That's some good mileage ,did u notice any big difference in the hieght being that the Dunlop is a 150-80-15 rear tire instead of the 150-90-15 it calls for ? thank for your helpcushman eagle wrote:[

I replaced an E-2 which was nearly the same as the E-3 on the rear and replaced a miserable 404 on the front.I am happy with the E-3s.

Commander IIs have worked well for me. I think I have ridden on them now 8K and so far lots of tred left on them. Very steady and yet still nimble.

Re: best tires for voyager
Whatever tire you go with other than the E3 Dunlops, make sure the tire has the proper load rating for both bike and rider. Good traction isn't snot if the tire fails because you overloaded it.

Re: best tires for voyager
I just replaced my front tire, and it only got to 17000 miles. My rear still looks like it will make it to 20000.I also replaced the front brake pads with EBC FA85.Looking back on my notes, and the first owners notes, the front pads must be original, although he changed the rear at 15000 miles. The bike now has 51200.cushman eagle wrote:Yes ,I have run the Dunlop E3 for three years.I have 16000 miles on them and expect, based on the wear, to get about 4000 more.Bulldogx11 wrote:I screw up typing size I meant MV85HB -15 ,when I translate that it is a 150-80 -15. The bike calls for a 150-90-15 on rear, so being a little smaller (shorter) no one has noticed any big difference? And are u guys running the Dunlop e3 touring tire ? thanks for your advice

Re: best tires for voyager
Okay, first of all I'm sorry to be digging this post out of the trash. But I'm having the same issues that the original poster had. I took my rim to the shop and ordered a Dunlop Elite 3 in the size mentioned here. The shop called and said they messed up and bought the wrong size. The tire is a 150-70-15 the bike calls for a 170-50-17. My question is does this matter matter as far as handling and weight rating goes. I know the OP asked this but never got the answer.
The shop said they would mount the tire but want me to know it's not technically the right size. And recommended a Bridgestone commander 2 or the dismal Dunlop 404

Re: best tires for voyager
No, the tire size you posted will NOT fit: a 15 inch tire will never fit a 17 inch rim! I would go with the Commander II, if it is the correct size. I have one on the rear, and I will install the same on the front, come Spring. Cheers!

Been running the Federal on the rear (2 of them) and Metz 888 on front. Quite happy,,, especially with the grip... Going to try Nexen on rear now. The E4 doesn't show a 15 inch yet.
