Description and Message
I have owned her since Aug. when the weather was warm there was no issue. Now if the temp. drops below 42-45 degrees, I get a no start over 45 and she cranks for 7-12 seconds and fires right up. I have tried with the choke open and closed, it will crank for 2-3 mins i get a few sputters (10-15 seconds), then nothing. it will crank but no fire and the battery looses its cranking peer after 3 5 second trys, it has even flooded twice. she has 58,000, professionally serviced ,the battery is about 1-2 years old but it has been serviced and never left to go dead, i have a trickle charger that has been put on with the same result. The only way to get it to start is to jump it off another vehicle, then the start is almost instant. i really do not want to put 140 into a new battery but this seems to be the only solution ..... just looking for something i have missed.

... if it starts with a jump and won't start without it..... think it's trying to
tell Ya "change the battery"....

Do some research and get a good 'un!!! I like AGM's and Yuasa has been touted
on the VROC boards......

IIRC, Interstate All Battery Centers, if Ya have one around will carry 'um, have
NOT looked since I have my new to me scoot....

Also, get a battery post brush/cleaner and some dielectric grease and slather up
your terminals... it'll stop the corrosion and insure connectivity....

Get 'er fixed spring IS coming!!!!!! GBG

Before you replace the battery, see what voltage the battery is showing with the charger on it.If it is showing about 14 volts with the charger, then yes, time for a battery.I have seen chargers that do not do what they are supposed to.With a low battery, there is not enough voltage left over after the starter takes it's draw to fire the plugs.Let us know the results. :corn:I have had good results with DEKA batteries, which I can get locally for $65.
