Corbin Seat Install
Got my bike home and now my "to do" list starts. One of the many things on the list is installing the corbin seat but the brackets on the seat do not line up with anything on the bike. I was thinking that I would need to make something to get this to work but wanted to reach out to the forum and see if there are any ideas out here..

Re: Corbin Seat Install
The seat should have 2 brackets with it. They bolt where the front seat bolted in. They are a l shaped bracket

Re: Corbin Seat Install
Called Corbin and all I got was that they do not sell parts. So, getting the dimensions sent to me and I will just make them as nothing turned up on the web.

Re: Corbin Seat Install
Those brackets have a two 3/8 inch holes drilled at either end. Then the hole that hangs down has a 3/8 inch nut welded to the back side. Thread pitch is coarse. I went to ACE hardware and found some chrome 3/8 bolts, and washers just to give it that finished look
It's the chrome bolt with chrome washer, just in front of the upper shock mount and above the upper mounting bolt of the crash bar.

Re: Corbin Seat Install
Don't put to much into it. I found the Corbin seat was like sitting on a brick! Never got softer or comfortable after breaking it in either. Worse seat i ever bought. Sold it & bought a Russle Daylong. What a huge difference!

Re: Corbin Seat Install
I read that about these seats. It seems that you either love them or 100% hate them. I priced it out if I went to buy it and at value of $700 +/- I thought of selling it and just picking up the back rest for the factory seat. I picked up some 90 degree brackets from Tractor Supply and just going to make a simple mount for it and give it a try it out.

Re: Corbin Seat Install
That great, but it's a shame that you have to have it reworked to fit right. I may still try it but I am also thinking of seeing what I can get for it and run with the stock seat..

Re: Corbin Seat Install
I have a Corbin on mine, (came with it, and the cover is torn) and so far it's pretty good. It's been hit or miss with me and Corbin. Had a Corbin Rumble seat on my 98 ST1100 and loved it, but put a Corbin on my 96 NightHawk 750, and hated it. Tried a Corbin on the ST1300 and didn't care for it. Seems to depends on the person AND the bike. As for Russell and the like, my 03 ST1300 came with one, and I'm not liking it. Guess it was made for someone of a different size, as I've tried all the adjustments on the seat, and at best it's "OK".

Re: Corbin Seat Install
That's what I read about them. I have not decided if I will install it or just keep the factory and sell it off. It's new with the backrest and to reorder it is over $700 so I may let it go to recoup some $$ on getting the bike ready..

The seat was in great condition and only cost me $35.00.sgilbert14 wrote:That great, but it's a shame that you have to have it reworked to fit right. I may still try it but I am also thinking of seeing what I can get for it and run with the stock seat..

Re: Corbin Seat Install
Mine's a little ragged, and the backrest adjuster is broken. Corbin wants about 70% of the cost of a new one to "rehab" it. Think I'll just get it covered at a local shop for around $200 instead.
