Year into this...

Post by SoTexBill »

So, little over a year ago, my loud and low angry Victory 8 Ball was stolen.
Few days later I acquired a 1997 Voyager XII, with about 50,000 on the clock.
When I bought the bike, my complain was the stereo sucked-it still does. I won't fix it.
The bikes had some small issues along the way-all maintenance related- and to make a long story short-this has proved to be a worthy motorcycle.
Most of my miles are highway (38 miles one way to work) and nothing in South Texas is close to anything else.
Plenty of power, wife enjoys a nice evening ride and it handles well.
Now... two quick questions from someone who still considers himself a newb on this ride...
1) Is the superbrace really worth it and how does it affect handling?
2) Progressive springs, worth the investment?

and... go....

Thanks for replies, feedback and what not... in advance...

hello from NJ. the progressive springs and rear progressive shocks will make the bike feel like a different machine. as for the super brace , well make sure the metal inserts in the plastic fender are making the stock one work and not using the fender as a plastic washer.....

Agree with Gene about progressives. I only have them on the front but definitely keeps the front from bottoming out in stops and worth every penny for the ride. I have the super brace and I've had it on and off. The super brace is really thick aluminum and it would seem like it should make a big difference but frankly I can't see that it does. I make sure the tires are aired correctly, the wheel bearings and steering head bearings are good, all bolts torqued to spec's and haven't had any front end problems...........Gator Mike

Gator Mike, are you available on the 8th of April for a poker run ride? It is going from Jennings to Hayes back to Elton and returning to Jennings. I am thinking of going if the weather is good.

And yes the Progressives all around beat the heck out of the air suspension. Never tried the Superbrace.
