Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
Hi..
I bought a Cee baileys windshield last year on Vetrans day, and just finaly got around to installing it before I went on a big trip..
I liked the windshield and thought it was great I could see again clearly..then it rained.. and the problem reveled itself..
while I was riding in the rain the dash behind the sheild literaly filled up full of water, so much, that is actually started running down over the rest of the faring...when I stopped to see what was going on, the pool of water started to slowly drain out...
I thought I may have put it together wrong, or had pinche the rubber seal, so when I got a chance to look at it, I discoverd it was all back together right, but the shape of the windsheild itself wasnt curved properly and there is a gap between the sheild and the rubber just after the 2 front screws .. I have a few electronic items on my dash and they are there to hide them from the rain, now they sit in a puddle in the rain.... not good...
Has anyone else had this problem with these windsheilds??..
Thanks...
Chuck

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I have never heard of that, for any bike, provided the obvious...are you sure it's for the V XII?
The only thing I could think of, would be the wrong windshield or, it was manufactured wrong?
That stinks either way, I know what you mean about the electronics.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I've had a Cee Bailey's for three years with no problems. I don't ride in rain often but now and then you can't escape it. Rode through a torrential downpour in Dayton, OH on the way to Logan this summer, raining so hard cars pulled off the freeway! While the dash and radio did get some rain, no "flooding" or other issues.
I've found the Cee Bailey's people very good to work with. I'd contact them about the problem.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
Not sure what size the windshield is, but I suspect you have a larger than stock one. I had the same problem first two times I rode in the rain with it. I had to lean the bike over to drain the water. I noticed the air pulling the rain around the edges and top of the windshield. I opened the 2 top vents in dash and pointed them straight up. It seemed to relieve some of the vacuum effect, and I do not get near as much water on my dash now.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
.... have traveled 5k miles with my cb windshield this year, not a problem to report about leakage.... I am impressed at how dry my area is that yours floods, I ordered mine 4inches higher and wider than stock..... I did notice however that my chrome kawasaki wrap around will not fit as snug and perfect as when stock , no matter how much I fuss with it..... I hope that you don't run into any return issues due to waiting a year to install it... keep us posted as to what they say... because I am with the majority of what has been stated, the c.b company were very polite and helpful in my dealings with them ! tony

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
My windshield is stock size..After the first time I saw this happening I kept a very close eye on the possibility of water "wraping" around, but I can tell this is not the case, as the backside of shield stays dry,and the fact the water drains out rather quickly..
my chrome also does not fit exacty right, so I think the water is comming thru the gap. it seems that the pre drilled slots for mounting are off. I am able to get the windshield flush when the end bolts are off,and you can see they need to be pushed back a little to get the bolt in, and once that is done, it creates a gap.
I will contact Cee Bailey's and see what they say..and let you all know...

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I know this is an old thread but any fixes from Cee Bailey on this? I just installed one (+4 high and +4 wide) and I can't get the chrome piece to fit at all.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I put a Cee Bailey -2" sport style windshield on my 2002 Voyager last year. I rode in several down pours that forced us off the road and had no flooding issues, although did have a little problem getting chrome trim to fit right. I attributed this to the fact the CB shield is a little thicker than the stock one. As has been suggested I would contact Cee Bailey with your problem, perhaps yours is not formed quite right.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I have a Clearview Windshield 2 inches over size and with the Goldwing style vent on it. I have ridden in the rain though I hate doing it and that windshield has not had a problem with rain accumulation. If you still have the original Voyager windshield take off the Cee Baileys unit and compare the curvature. If it is not the same contact them and see if they will remake it. If worse comes to worse get a Clearview. I love mine.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I've been riding behind a Cee Bailey's windshield that's 4" over and 2" wider than factory with the center vent for more than 5 years, and I have gotten caught in my fair share of heavy rain showers living here in Florida. Not once have I seen an issue with puddling on the dash, and even my installation was trouble free. All of the chrome and other bits went back into place as expected with zero issues. Now, I set the windshield up to sit as tall as possible without fear of the tabs breaking because I want total protection. The windshield has gotten a few nicks over the past several years, but overall is as clear as it was the day I bought it. When I get a new bike, I will make sure I get another one of these for that model because it has proven to be a very worthy replacement for the factory shield.

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I have theCee Bailey tallest and widest they offer. My Kawasaki trim piece refuses to stay seated as well.Om glad to hear of others having same issue.I even bought new rubber grommets to no avail.I played around with with everything trying to get the Kawasaki chrome piece snapped into place, but it just keeps popping back up.I said the heck with it and just ride it the way it isHavent had it in torrential rain yet,Im a fair weather ride, not too fond of being blasted by rain, not to mention the rolling mist that gets the bike absolutely filthy up here in beautiful NH.I did have an issue mounting it.I was tightening the screws, practically finger tight and the shield cracked immediately, about a half inch long.I called customer service and they sent me another free of charge.I drilled a hole in the end of the crack and the trim almost hides it entirely.I have a beautiful new spare CEE Bailey windshieldwhen i wear this one out, which doesnt seem likely. They are a good upgrade,as long as you can deal with the trim issue.I just havent made it a priority, too many other things come first.Did I forget to mention MADE IN USA!!!

Re: Cee Bailey's windshield problem.
I couldn't get the chrome trim piece to go on at all. I ended up taking the top rubber seal off and cutting the top lip on the trim piece back with some aviation (curved) tin snips and then replacing the rubber seal. It took a few tries to take enough off in the right places but the trim piece now fits properly.
