The bad and the good

Post by cushman eagle »

We were going to take the VXII to visit Peg's mom today, but when I hit the start button, the engine rolled over once ,then the battery says, thats all folks :cry2:So I pulled it out, took it to the local NAPA dealer and asked if he could come up with something to get me going. He went back to his shelf, and pulled out the correct Power Sports battery :woohoo: We took the car on to visit Betty, came back, and put the charger on the 2 amp position, and I started my lawn mowing project. As I was mowing I saw a Boss Hoss coming my way,so, I waved to him,and he stopped to talk to me.Find out he used to ride the school bus with me about 55 years ago.The bike ONLY had the 350 cid engine[5700cc].He has had it 4 years and still finds it has impressive power  He said it is geared to run 100 mph at 2000 rpm.I finished the mowing, installed the battery and went on a 55 mile ride.Part of the good today, was I had the battery failure here instead of on the Rally trip :woohoo:
I checked the alternator charge voltage and it is keeping the battery at 13.93 volts,so it is doing it's job.

Great news Cushman. I installed an orange Odyssey battery last year and it is a great GM battery. I keep it on a trickle charger when not riding but it never fails to start. I just ordered a voltage and amp gauge from Amazon.com and when it comes in looking forward to installing it somewhere on the console. I may take it out today and put some miles on it since I haven't ridden in a while due to illness. Been down with a bad case of bronchitis. Anyway have a great summer.

Hey Loren, napa was the battery I put in my 1200. Seemed to work well. Kathy and I are going to take state route 6 over to Indiana to go to the rally. This route is about the same miles as taking 75 south. Hopefully we'll find our way down. See you down there. ohiojack
