I just got back from a ride and my radio was acting weird. It has never given me any problems but it was turning off and back on. My guess is I either have a power or ground wire problem but was wondering i was wondering if this is a common problem and where to start looking.
Thanks, Brad

Re: Radio cutting out
It is more like a power issue. The radio stops and I can see the time on the clock. It will then come back on and then quit again. The power button for the radio does nothing but it will come on by itself. Not sure if it is a power problem or if the radio is beginning to short out.

Re: Radio cutting out
Next time, or for kicks, wiggle the ignition key. I bought my '90 in 2002 and was running up to Cody in 2003, when my radio started to cut in and out occasionally. Drove me nuts all the way home. I had torn it apart and wired in a little dash light in the power circuit to see if it was a power issue or radio issue, when I was coming to a stop, I decided to just wiggle the ignition key. Found my problem. Took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts and reassembled. It's been fine since.

Re: Radio cutting out
Thanks for the advice Guys! I will be doing some maintenance later this week. I just bought some new tires, progressive fork springs, and shocks. When I put those in I will check out the radio further. Looking forward to doing some upgrades and see what it does to the ride.
Cheers!
