Question about Markland backrests
Have you guys with the Markland backrests had any complaints from the passengers about the bar assembly (the chrome bars that come off the sides, and slide into the tubes by the pillion handles) causing discomfort? Picked up a set of trunk extenders to see if moving back the trunk will help any at all, but beginning to think I'll need to go to a Utopia backrest style arrangement to solve the issue.

Re: Question about Markland backrests
As far as the chrome bars that come off the sides, my wife has in the past commented about them pushing on the underside of her thighs. That was resolved when she added a large get seat pad (same size as front) which covers the bars. To be honest I think what was getting her was the grab bars and not the slide rails for the back rest!
No complaints for the past several years so Plus One for the gel seat pad (got it from Canadian Tire {northern version of Western Auto if you remember them}, have seen them in Wal-Mart since then).

Re: Question about Markland backrests
Got a Markland on my 90. Had my wife on the back over the weekend for a 70 mile ride. I asked her if those bars were and issue and she said not really. Her biggest complaint is the amount of wind she feels with the stock windshield still on the bike.
