Need help. After everything that I have done on my bike I am finally getting in some nice ride BUT the problem is, is my back. On the past 2 weekends I have done a couple 200+ mile rides and then for the following 2 days afterwards I am hurting. Last night I put on another 60 miles and today the back is not great. The corbin pushed me too far forward and the factory setup w/ backrest is what I have now. I love the bike and the way that I have it setup now but never had this issue on the sport touring ones.. is it possible that this is just not the right bike or are their ideas out to solve this issue?

... I believe you posted your own solution... the Corbin pushed you too far forward....
The scoot seat is like a bicycle, it is the whole ride!!!! If it's not right, it just don't work!

Each person hasta find what works for them... can Ya look around, attend some
rally's and try some out for fit? Try before you buy, really is a tad cheaper...

Stock seat is okay. This past weekend I rode from Clovis NM to Chama NM and back, eight hours trip on Friday, seven hours back on Sunday. (Traffic was lighter on Sunday.)

My 1987 Suzuki LS650 Savage was a different story. It's stock seat pushed me forward, was a 1 hour seat. After that, my butt really hurt. I replaced it with a factory pillow gel seat for the S40. Then It was a 2 hour seat. I made the same trip to Chama, but it was a torturous ride.

For back comfort, perhaps a back rest of some sort may help. Got to agree with crankyb, there's a number of aftermarket seat makers that will tailor a seat based on one's weight, posterior dimensions, leg lengths, etc. It requires visiting them personally. Seats aren't cheap, but can make a difference in comfort.

Thanks and I expected as much. I am going to see what I might do with the seating on the bike cause it is one great ride and would be 1000% better if I can work out a fit. First - gel pad. put me up a bit higher and may take the pressure of the back...

.... I put an Airhawk II on mine with just a little air, rode 500 back road miles in
11 1/2 hours and that fixed it! FWIW.... it sounds to me like you need an entire
new seat to start with, again, best to Ya!!! A bad seat will bust yer' arse!!!!

yup and new seats are expensive... I'm going to try them w/o the backrest as they, factory and corbin, seem to sit forward or the back of the driver's seat.. time to play...

My backrest is mounted to the passenger seat, that way, I really can move my
seating space forwards and backwards, as intended...

what brand and do you have any pics? sounds interesting... I went out and played around with the handlebars and stuff to see if that helps

I don't know how to post pics, it's the standard backrest for these machines, they lean
forward when the trunk opens, it looks like a match and it's big and wide, very
comfy.... sorry I can't help! Someone will chime in!!!

I post photos using my photobucket account. I think they revised the forum software here to auto adjust compression and scale photos, but I'm used to the old way of things and haven't attempted that. Last time only section that allowed uploading photos was if one was a member and only in the tech sections.

I use Gimp photo editor to reduce resolution to 800 pixels wide or 640 pixels tall, which ever results in less both ways, then reduce file size through jpeg compression to less than 150kb. Then I upload to photobucket. Once in photobucket, open photo, copy the image link. Paste it here. If you have the raw image URL, paste it between the code obtained by hitting "Img" in this forum.

Now that I like. It would allow for the full extension on the seat and with the other adjustments I made yesterday may just let me love the fit of the bike as much as I love the bike.

Wow, got more room than I need.... recreated my brackets for the Corbin and moved the highway pegs and even the handlebars and now I have more room then I could have dreamed of. In fact I have to bring the bars back in as they are now too far forward. One thing that was killing me is that the backrest on the Corbin was not going fully back. Had to put the base in the vice and work on it for some time to get it to get to the stop in the seat... now comes the miles needed to break in a Corbin....

Corbin is a cement block, You can't break it in. Terrible seat.
Sold one I had and bought a Russell Day long seat. The difference is amazing!

Thanks, made a bunch of changes and am going to put the factory back on for the weekend. If the weather is ok then I plan on a 7 hr do-die ride on Sunday. I have put the bike up on the classifies now as well.
