Quick fix for leaking fork seals.

Post by cranky »

I saw something a long time ago and it looked interesting,
a way to clear / clean out a fork seal. It's a thin piece'a
plastic with a hooked end that you work down into the seal,
move it around and clear out whatever is lodged in the seal,
causing it to leak...

I just got back from a long trip, saw some oil spots on the
floor, checked around and my right front seal blew and I
had oil all over the fork.... and down the tube...

I used this thing, went for a ride today and the damn
fork is CLEAN!!!! Yeah, I have an unbalanced fork, I'm
gonna put new seals in anyway when I can, I wanted an
excuse to put in Progressive springs, and here it is,
but I now have time to do it!!! Just a FYI

http://www.sealmate.net is the addy on the tool.... and how to use it... best to Ya!!!

Yes it really does work. I used it on mine a couple weeks ago. You have to pump the forks several times to get it to reseal but it does work.

You can make a homemade seal cleaning tool by cutting a piece of plastic milk jug in the rough hook shape of a seal-mate.
