The miles have started I did go back to the factory seat and backrest. Going to unload the corbin as it pushed me to far forward to be comfortable.

Re: Cruise doesn't work
I buyed my bike thinking that cruise control never will work. Yesterday I read this post and today after two years I used the cruiser control for the first timekrasmu wrote:put an ear to the front brake switch location and make sure you deffinately hear two distinct clicks. One is the brake light switch and the second is the cruise cancel switch. If you only hear one click, try pushing the the brake lever out, away a bit harder. You should hear the second click at that time. If that is the case, it's not the switch but the brake lever pivot point is dirty and not traveling all the way out on it's own. This was the case on my bike, so I disassembled both the clutch and front brake levers, cleaned them (they were very gummy dirty). afterwards they pivoted freely and the clicks were audible every time. The next thing I found with the system were loose wires on the switch housing of the right handle bar switch housing. Fixed those two issue and my cruise has worked great ever since.
Thanks very much for this information

I started to think the same way until the carb switch was brought up. Now I love using it on the interstate

Re: Cruise doesn't work
Congrats on getting her fixed, jek7galo. Yes, cruise makes the XII a sweet bike. Had a problem with mine slowing down 10 mph then up when switched on. After removing parts of the fairing for access, found it had never been adjusted when new or since or when servo motor was replaced. Adjustment was backed all the way down. After adjusting, now it operates like a car cruise control.
I think you'll find that a minor caveat is the servo motor is slow acting. If the grade or incline is too steep or terrain changes quickly, if servo can't achieve in a couple seconds, cruise kicks out. On those, I find helping by rolling the throttle a touch helps. Cruise works best on straight and level roads where elevation changes are gradual.
Perhaps more drastic was my trip from Clovis NM (near Texas Panhandle) to Chama NM (near Colorado border). Road is fairly straight and level for the 60 mile stretch from Clovis to Fort Sumner (Billy the Kid's grave site ). From there, except for short stretches, elevation was roller coaster all the way to Chama. I kept the cruise off most the way.
Google Maps understates mileage and time. (Took me 8 hours going [Friday, more traffic] and 7 hours returning [Sunday].) Except for portions of I-40 and I-25, most of the road was 2 lane at 65 mph or less. After Espanola it overall dropped to 55 mph or less. I had elevation changes from 4,200 ft (Ft. Sumner) to 7,900 ft (Chama). For drastic changes in elevation, hand throttling was required.

Re: Cruise doesn't work
Looks like a cool ride and thank because mine is having that 10 mph drop as well when I turn it on. I am hoping to take a ride up into Maine at the end of summer which is what I bought a touring bike for.

Re: Cruise doesn't work
When the Kid was buried, he had a plain wooden board with the name "Billy the Kid" crudely carved into it to mark his grave. Unlike the monument we see today, the Kid was not buried right next to his friends, Charlie Bowdre and Tom Folliard, but a few yards a way (but Bowdre and Folliard were indeed buried next to each other). Then in 1904 the Pecos River flood over took the cemetery and all the markers and even some remains of the dead were washed away. Another possibility is that the Kid's original grave marker was stolen or vandalized before the flood. Whatever the case, the Kid's grave was left unmarked for at least two decades, until finally in 1932 Billy the Kid's friends got some money together and purchased a headstone with the inscription of William H. Bonney alias Billy the Kid, Tom Folliard, and Charlie Bowdre, along with the word "Pals." Shortly after, another much smaller headstone was placed for Billy the Kid in the same spot, and that one has been stolen twice and fortunately recovered. So in order to protect the headstones from thieves, an iron cage was placed over the grave. It's very unlikely that the "Pals" headstone was placed on the exact location of the Kid's original grave, so it's more like a memorial monument then the actually last resting place of Billy the Kid, Charlie Bowdre, and Tom Folliard. Billy the Kid was still buried in that tiny cemetery, so those of you who visited the grave or will someday, shouldn't be too disappointed -Billy the Kid's spirit and memory is still there and it doesn't matter if you're standing "right" over his grave or not.

Re: Cruise doesn't work
Oh, I never gave it much thought, the intricate details of precisely where Billy the Kid is buried. He was a criminal, killed 5 lawmen in the process until Pat Garret sealed his fate. Every so often, it is in the news. The descendants of Billy bring it to the New Mexico governor, wanting Billy pardoned. The descendants of Pat Garret come to oppose the exoneration. So far, Billy hasn't been pardoned or exonerated, which I think is fair for a murderer.
Of interest, a couple buried near Billy at the same grave site may be 15 feet away bears the name of Sandoval. I asked a co-worker in Clovis, Chris Sandoval if he knew anything about that. He told me, oh yeah, that was his great grand parents. They personally knew Billy, he was popular around Fort Sumner. Every year they come to clean their burial place and pay their respects.
Anyway, a little trivial.
