I have a weatherproof SP-ST switch to defeat the starter solenoid. And I have the solenoid plug in hand. It has a black/white wire and a black/yellow one. In which one should I put the switch? Does it matter?
I looked at the wiring diagram in the service manual, but I just can't read it.
This came up for me at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11048: ekap1200: "I would have to get back to you on what wire I tied into." Well???
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1247&p=9557&hilit=b ... rter#p9557 apparently has the information I seek, but I can't download the images. The referenced http://abbikeboard.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=915 probably does too, but that link appears to be dead. The thread is a decade old, after all. (That solenoid plug is easy to reach, given that my fairing already is off.)
Thanks for help!

Re: switch to defeat the starter solenoid
If it were me, I would install to the black/yellow wire, which is the ground side. I presume this is an anti-theft measure?
Also, use wire conduit and/or be extra sure that the added wires can't short to ground over time, this would not be good.

Re: switch to defeat the starter solenoid
Thanks for identifying the ground side -- my schematic is way too fuzzy to read.
I would've guessed the hot side, but hole flow always catches me out. I'm thinking it actually doesn't matter.
It's more to run the fuel pump without cranking, to prime the carbs and for quick diagnostics. But since I'm doing it, might as well go for the theft deterrence. I put the switch inside the left fairing locked compartment. Honestly, it's pretty lame protection. More likely it'll just cause me consternation when I forget I left it open.

Re: switch to defeat the starter solenoid
Just for posterity, putting the switch in black/yellow works.
