Fuel light question
Ok, so after a year of ownership finally got the reserve fuel light to come on...but it came on very low, not bright at all like it is when I first start up the bike. Is this normal? Bike is a '90 with close to 60K.

Re: Fuel light question
If it JUST came on and you did not drive very far( 5m) It will be dim, farther you go, brighter it gets, does not stay dim for very long.. normally.

Re: Fuel light question
When mine comes on I still have over a gallon of fuel in the tank. Best thing is to use your trip meter which will be more accurate than either the fuel gauge or the fuel light. When mine reaches 250 miles I know I have a half gallon in the tank. Yours may be different depending on where you live, elevation, hills, mountains, load, etc.

Thanks. Yes it had just come on. Was beginning to wonder if it functioned at all.doug of so fla wrote:If it JUST came on and you did not drive very far( 5m) It will be dim, farther you go, brighter it gets, does not stay dim for very long.. normally.

Re: Fuel light question
On every bike I've ever owned I've used the tripmeter, but in all the time I've owned THIS bike the reserve light has never come on. My gas mileage has really varied but so has my riding (in town, , highway, one up, two up, fully loaded, unloaded etc etc) so it's been really tough to gauge a reliable point for always refilling. The gas gauge goes from 1/2 tank to nothing in a heartbeat. My Concours is the same way, but it has a manual fuel tap so I know exactly when I need to start searching for a station.Mr Jensee wrote:When mine comes on I still have over a gallon of fuel in the tank. Re: Fuel light question
I thought the fuel light was a 'pressure' light cause when mine came on it died. instantaneously...
Re: Fuel light question
I just tested mine this week. It hadn't come on at 210 miles so I said I'd fill up at 220 regardless. It came on at 220.8 dimly like you said. I put gas in by 223 and it stayed dim. I kind of wish the bike had a petcock for shutoff. It makes is easier to store the bike if you can just shut the fuel off and let it run til it quits.

Re: Fuel light question
Keith when mine gets to 220 miles I still have a gallon in the tank. And I have seldom ever seen the low fuel light actually light so don't feel all alone.
