Hey there..considering buying a used 1700 voyager. I have heard that this beast runs hot and that Kawasaki may have corrected this issue. Can anyone tell me if this is an issue..did Kawasaki fix this issue and what years are effected. Thanks!

Re: voyager running hot
Like all big V-Twins, the 1700 Voyager does run warm. Mostly, you will just notice the engine heat around your legs more than your XII. Starting with the 2012 model, the Voyager comes equipped with KAMS (Kawasaki Air Management System) which will turn on fans to help dissipate the heat and run cooler. A few other tricks may help too, like using Engine Ice coolant, or putting manual switch for fans to turn on earlier. Having the ECU flashed will help also. Some people will wrap their pipes with exhaust tape. I had a 98 XII before the 1700 and they are very different animals and it takes a while to get used to the V-Twin throb. I love mine though.

Re: voyager running hot
FYI, if the used Voyager you're considering is prior to 2012, Kawasaki does sell KAMS as an upgrade kit. I put it on my 2009 and it helped a lot. 5 years ago, approx $400.

Re: voyager running hot
On my 2011 voyager I bought leather heat shields that go on the side and attach under the front part of the seat on both sides $140 (forgot company name just Google it) this has helped keeping heat off my legs
