Lower fairing trim pieces.

Post by dsmmrm »

Anybody have a set of these lying around? Perhaps removed for easier access to highway pegs or something like that?

'Twas a bit chilly on the way to work this morning (high 40's) and my 60 mile, 75 MPH commute had certain, ahem, parts of my lower anatomy ready to fall off about halfway here. Just a tad more wind protection for the lower body area would probably be enough. It doesn't help that my firstgear HT overpants have mysteriously gotten too small to wear in recent years.

Color does not matter, in fact, the wrong color for my 2001 would be best. Then I have an excuse to buy the color matched paint and do my one damaged saddle bag lid as well.

I checked with Bike Bandit, and as of now they don't seem to be available. You might go there and check every Voyager year model. However you can go to ebay and set an alert for a particular part when it becomes available. You will need 3 clips for each side if and when you find some. You might also contact Carl Leo at voyagerparts@bellsouth.net and see if he has any.

Believe it or not I think I have the other side, too. Now, I can only hope these people know what they have and have entered their product descriptions accurately. I'd hate to end up with 2 of the same side.

Ultimately this will end up around $100 bucks. If you would have asked me if I would be willing to pay that much for these fairly innocuous parts I probably would have said no but here I am anyway. Again. *sigh*

Now I need to buy the paint.

Well unfortunately Voyager XII parts are getting a little scarce. Those that have them and selling them can ask premium prices. If you don't believe look at the cost difference on Ebay for a saddle bag compared to the lid. That is IF you can find a lid.

Oh, I believe you. I have one lid that is pretty chewed up from an aerial performance sometime in its past before I bought it. Thanks to the accumulated wisdom on this list I have never ridden with them unlocked since I bought the bike a couple months ago. Tethers are on the list but I have not done them yet. With the recent thread about them going airborne despite being locked I will be moving that task up in priority right after I get the progressive fork springs installed.

I still have both of mine. One is scuffed up a bit and the other in near perfect. The ones on ebay were a little bit scuffed, IIRC. in any case, sanding and painting the one I have that is scuffed will be cheaper than buying another one. Especially if I need to buy the paint to do the trim pieces anyway.

Thanks for your help finding the one trim piece. That first bit set me on the path to actually getting these things done, although I will probably wait until spring at this point to finish it. We typically get a very short fall in the Cleveland area then straight into our fairly notorious winter.

So I got one of the trim pieces, waiting on the other but I have another issue now. No clips. Uhg. Anyone got an alternate source for these or should I just go back to farming ebay again?

last time I ordered them from Partzilla they were still available; # 92037-1943 shown on the "cowling" page and called "Flap clamp".
If they are no longer available then OEM parts are really drying up quickly.
You could also contact Carl Leo as he has a lot of stock, voyagerparts@bellsouth.net

Yep, still available. I usually don't even bother to try OEM channels these days. I guess I should. Thanks for the heads up!

BB has been processing my order now for a week. Don't get in a hurry to get them. I don't know if they are backordered or what. Just crossing my fingers they ship them this year. :dm:

I don't plan to paint the trim pieces I bought until spring so they can take their time with mine. I just wonder if they really aren't available and they just have not removed them from the website.
