Vibration @80

Post by cranky »

I've noticed a vibration about 80, it's high speed like a rumble, not rhythmic,
pull the clutch and it stays the same, accel and decel... once it slows down, its
fine.... I've not noticed any feeling of it in the handlebars.... not noticed it
taking off and going thru the gears, obviously I'll feel it in 4th and 5th gears....

Sometimes it does it and sometimes not... maybe different roads? I have new
Michelin Commanders, been on for a few thousand miles, no changes to the scoot
for a while, last was fork seals and Progressive springs... they ARE nice!!! GBG

Thoughts? Things to look for? Ways to test it? TIA

I am betting it is an out of balance or bad front tire. Or you could drive the speed limit.

It also could be a U-joint on the drive line. My 1200 started doing the same thing only at 60-65 mph. Under power or coasting it was always there, above or below these speed it was smooth. This happened at 48,000 on the ODO.

Jansee, that is the speed limit on Interstate 280. Any slower and you get run over.

Cranky 70 is the speed limit on Interstate 10 but if you drive it on a bike or a car you can get run over. Some of the most horrific accidents in the country are on the Atchafalaya basin causeway of I-10 where the speed limit is 65 and a high degree of vehicles both tractor trailers and cars are doing 80 plus.
