what is the most common cause and fix of the dreaded front wheel wobble? it only happens at slow speeds (about 35, decelerating) and no hands on the handle bars.

Re: front wheel wobble
Possible wobble causes
1. Not keeping your on hands the handle bars
2. Steering head bearing not adjusted correctly
3. Worn/Bad tires
4 Bad bearings
Search the forum, many threads about it

Re: front wheel wobble
When I bought my '99,it had a 404 on the front, and it would wobble in that speed range I put an E-3 on it and also adjusted the steering head bearing. Those changes took care of the wobble .

Re: front wheel wobble
Tighten the steering stem bearings. I have put up with that same wobble and the same speeds since I got the bike in 2009. I finally got around to tightening the steering and it now tracks like it is on rails. No more wobble.

Hope it didn't take you 8 years to change the oil!

Re: front wheel wobble
My 1990 XII had the wobble, and steering stem bearing adjustment fixed the problem. I can now ride with one hand and it tracks like it's on rails. Not a hard adjustment at all. Much easier than it sounds.
