How come my shfit pattern is 1 up and 4 down I thought it was supposed to be the other way around :shock: :-?

Sounds as though one of the shift linkage ball/socket arms is upside down.
See page 8_2, (exploded view), of the factory service manual for the correct orientation.

If you have the front driver floorboards kit installed, the linkage was not reversed at the tranny side as per the instructions. The direction for the Floorboard Installation, I believe, are posted in the Tech Section of this site.
