Hank,we will not make it to the Kerrville,rally.I thought about it long and hard but to take off work that long during the busy time of our harvest schedule just did not seem wise.
We would have 6 days minimum travel plus the 5 days there.
We would also have 11 days of hotel and eating out for 11 days.
That all would be a little tough on the budget.
I hope we can make the 2019 rally,as we very much enjoyed the 4 we have been to.

I see by now the conversation has drifted far from the original cylinder head pictures, but I have a question/request that is loosely related (OK, very loosely related). After my first ride of the season a couple of weeks back I noticed a drop of oil on the cap bolt of the cam chain tensioner. I figured the bolt must be a bit loose so I attempted to tighten it. No luck. It just keeps turning. But for now, at least, it seems to have stopped the leak. I'm thinking there is no oil pressure behind it so I shouldn't have to worry about it being blown out. That would just ruin a good ride.

So here's my question/request. If the tensioner hasn't already been bolted to the block, could you add a picture or two showing the individual parts? I'm thinking the bolt has stripped the threads out of the holder, but the service manual doesn't show an exploded view so I'm not sure what I'm dealing with. It doesn't look like there is room to do anything without pulling the carbs, and I don't enjoy that little exercise. Any comments/observations would be appreciated.

You likely have a few GOOD threads left beyond the reach of the stock 6mm fastener....... My suggestion for the cam chain tensioner leakage is , to get a longer screw and put a 6mm corresponding nut on it , run the nut down the threads, then cut off the screw ,so that it is only 3-4 threads longer than the original screw, then back off the nut using it to "chase" the threads. Then take out the screw that you suspect to have bad threads , then put your new slightly longer screw in the hole and run it in till you can snug it up . DONT OVER TIGHTEN....just snug it up enough to draw the tensioner in, should be enough to stop your minor leakage .
