Well my Christmas gift of a new bike lift is such a nice addition to the shop floor. And nearing 100k a real good looking over was needed this year, and the first since the bike was totaled out. I had hoped get it down and off the lift yesterday, but my trailer hitch had some damage from the accident and did not go back on when I repaired accident damage. Well yesterday It took several hours and several installs to get it back into shape after being damaged. I knew it would be a timely event to repair as the whole rear frame was destroyed. Today it is going to be done.
Since this is a 100k service there was allot to do and look at, and all went well. Even the new modification to the air filter box. I wanted to retrofit the STP WITHOUT trimming or using glue each and ever time. So using .750 thick plastic ; I set out to make a transition box that would be installed into the air box and make the next air filter install a snap. Not something I would recommend for those not willing to spend an extra expense of the high cost of the material. There are two words that will never go together well. CHEEP AND PLASTIC---with an overall size of 6.780 x 7.180 a 12 x12 x 3/4 was required . Quite a bit of waste here but I don't expect to see me making these up for sale. But with the foam on these old saved air filters for retrofit beginning to rot from old age I just don't want to risk fouling up the carbs from such a move and having to trim and glue every time I changed it out. The material cost was 47.00 but from now on 5.62 for a new filter and 10 min. gets the job done. Working on the lift is such a nice change and I hope to be on the ground and running today. Amazing machines these Voyagers are. Even the final drive when drained revealed 7 oz very close to the 210ml. required, and clean enough to reuse if I had to. Only hitch was the hitch, and it will be secured and done today. I have already missed a few good days I could have been on the road breaking in the new tires, Even the brake fluid change out was a snap, so clean it appears that the windows show empty.....
And now on to the parts dept. For those that have ordered sockets and fender inserts there was time enough this week to start on both 6 sockets and a few sets of inserts. So I will email when ready for shipping. I was out of material for the sockets and an early Sat morning run to the metal supplier was needed.

It sounds like the bike lift is working out well,Gene. I am about 26,000 miles short of your miles. I just do not get enough riding time,only 885 for the year so far. ,and 45 for the Cushman,

It was great to see both of you this week, and all that showed up to Clarion PA. Always a pleasure....
Well it was a , 957 mile trip for me. and both the GPS and the odometer confirmed the fuel mileage did increase by 1 ~ 1,5 mi a gallon and go back to 49.5 to 51 mile's per gallon . 25,000 and quite a few of that in downpours did that old air filter in !!! And that is what prompted me to do that modification and I am glad I did. What a difference just a new air filter made.
What a trip back we had though

Marie ended up getting on the bike after all . On our way back I kept noticing her lagging behind. I hit the next pull off and found two out of five studs snapped off. But could not rock the tire and it felt tight, without jacking it up, She didn't panic but knew this was dangerous and would not make the trip home. I left it up to her to make a decision based on her judgement and off we went again to the next exit off 322 ( Millerville 10 miles ) bottom of exit ramp was a quick-stop.
she was pulling into the parking lot and the third popped and the tire was now loose. So off we went, we must both have some Irish blood in us as we experienced the - Luck Of The Irish - found the only shop in the area, he called the tow-driver, we met him back at the car, ( while the repair shop ordered a set of studs and nuts ) The shop also moved a few things so the driver just backed it in, Bam up in the air and new studs , Nut lands on the rim were not damaged. So we used the same rim and tire, and all this took

Gene, gotta love your sense of humor. It's times like that when you have to have a pretty good one too. otherwise you find yourself curled up in the fetal position in a puddle of tears.

Peg and I were very happy to see the Clarion gang We had a wonderful time even with the rain slowing riding a bit
Gene and Marie from New Jersey,Scott and Beth from Pa.we always like to meet up with with you even though you are from out side the Buckeye State.
Then we had the joy of meeting Tony and Pam,Brad and Nicole(I hope I spelled that right) and Keith,We are from the Buckeye State and hope Penn State does not beat us this year
Great vacation that did not last long enough,I found out when I got home,I had 6 hours of work to do before I could get the 2 1/2 hours of lawn mowing done.

You forgot about Scott Hardy and Dave Muhl both from New York. Those poor fellows had a pretty good distance to ride also. Just sorry that we couldn't have done more all together!
