What is the thing below the seat on the Seat/Carrier parts fiche? Is a frame for the top of the travel trunk?

That's what it looks like to me .In the 25 years I have been riding a 1300 I do not believe I have ever seen one though.

I’m thinking maybe it’s supposed to be on top of the passengers seat? In case you don’t use your top trunk.
