slipping clutch

Post by Gator Mike »

Does anyone know if the 2007 Kawasaki Nomad 1600 has the same slipper Springs in the clutch assembly that breaks on our voyagers. I have a nephew with a nomad that has a slipping clutch when he really gets on it.

The 1600 motor has a true slipper clutch (sorry, I don't know if it's the same design as the Voyagers). Not unusual for the 1500/1600 motor to exhibit clutch slippage. The Meanstreak (1500 originally) upgraded some clutch spring and related parts to combat premature clutch slippage and those parts were later 'retro-recomended' for all 1500/1600 models. I suspect your Nomad does not have the upgraded parts. Changing to the new parts will probably solve your problem (and I'd change out the fiber plates while I was in there unless they've been changed recently already).

... new clutch hardware was implemented in the 1600s... he has the better washer and
added spacer. I put those pieces in my 1500 rebuild. FWIW
