The radiator can't be installed "backwards", can it?

lever on left grip just forward of the controls,
and again, I wouldn't touch the carbs til' ya
run about 5 tanks of Seafoam thru 'er to clean
out the crud that may be causing what your are
seeing... and how long has it sit??? ... with
how old of gas???? ... needs the snot run outta it
to wake'er up... JM2C

The shop says they had it running for almost a half-hour not long ago after cleaning the system out and cleaning the carbs (hence the rebalancing needed), they just didn't have much gas in it and a weak battery when I stopped by. . .
Weird one isn't it. I had to zoom in on it twice to believe my eye's. That one would bother me and wonder and question the last one to have worked on it. Ya'll know there had to be some cuttin and splicin to get the fan on in the right direction. And did they just let it idle for a half hour or run it down the road with some air flowing. Yes Kim we have all been there stuck in traffic with the fan nonstop and the engine at peak temps. Not the greatest thing in the world for the rings as temp get up to its peak and the rings are about to crystalize and then be prone to cracking. But that fan tells me someone does not know what the H*#l they are doing.
I would start to look this one over real well for sign's of " fixin it to death " Look under the faux tank cover for signs of a wiring WIZZARD MAKING a birds nest of things. As well as draining the carb bowls for signs of neglect with the fuel system. On a bike that is not that old as far as voyagers go, I might even spend the money getting an oil sample sent out to a lab and get a report on whats going on with the engine oil. A good story is a good story but not always the truth of how it has be taken care of or not. There are quite a few voyagers out there for sale. Some times its better to catch and release the first fish of the day...

.. no gas for a good long run? If it ran for 1/2 hour... you'd think the
battery would be charged... How are ALL the fluids?
How / what did they clean in the "system"? Who do they have workin'
for them that can pull and repair the carbs? ... the "radiator" guy?

Looks like I have a good few things to check the next time I stop by (Tuesday).
I saw under the tank the other day, and it didn't look like a wiring mess, but then again, I wasn't focused on it too much at the time. I'll do some intel work and report my findings. I don't mind some mechanic work, however I don't want a basket-case. I may run it down the road to a shop I know and have them look over the bike for me. This will accomplish three things for me:
1) Determine how the bike actually runs going down the road.
2) Find out what's really going on with the bike (condition/work needed/etc).
3) See how good the shop really is that claims they can service it.
I'm not dead, life just threw me a curve-ball! The shop sold the Voyager 12 before I got the cash together, so I'm looking around again. I had an job poach me from my previous job only to let me go a week later for no discernible reason, so I had to scramble to find another job. Everything is moving along again, but all my savings were depleted on bills.
A 2001 regardless of the condition at 18 years old shouldn't fetch more than $1800. Negotiate negotiate negotiate. Some people want to rob you blind. Tell them right off what you will pay for it.

I am not going to say they are worth more than that but unless you don't mind spending the first summer working on it I would set your sites a little higher.
There are some really nice ones out there with lots of goodies and an owner who takes good care of them for $2500ish
Mr Jensee's bike is a good example of that. He takes very good care of it and when a problem surfaces he takes care of it right away.I doubt he would let his baby go for a mere $1800
Thanks Me Again. I was going by the suggested resale of motorcycles like ours with the age creeping up on them and the fact that NEW parts are getting harder and harder to find. Yes if someone has taken good care and can show paperwork of how they have kept the bike no doubt the asking price could be worth it. When I bought mine I paid $5500 cash for it. It was in immaculate condition so I was willing to pay that. However that was several years ago and it is unlikely I could get closed to that for it now. And yes I try to address any problems right away. I dont want it parked in the garage too long without going somewhere on its own. I just think the older the bike the less you can reasonably ask for it.
Thank you for your input, everyone! I'm still looking around, and life has been full of changes! I'm still looking, but I've decided to be more discerning with my choices. If I find a decent Voyager in my range, I'll post it up for everyone's consideration!
