Went for a 75 mile ride

Post by cushman eagle »

Peg saw me heading out for a ride after church today, and said it is too cold!
I looked at the thermometer[39 Degrees] and told her I would not be gone long!
When I left the house,I had a 75 mile route planned,I was back by 45 miles :cold:  :rolling:

After church today,Peg saw me dressing up for a ride again, and told me it was too cold :cold: the temperature showed 46,so I told her I would not be gone long.
With all the rain we had, I knew the salt was off the roads.
There was enough sun out, I got 100 miles on the bike before I got home. :perfect10:
Not bad for November 25 in NE Ohio!

Good for you. I got 2 rides in the last 2 Sunday’s with the South Jersey Retreads. November 18th was about 46 deg high and November 25th was a high of about 56 deg. Both rides started at 900 am and the group toured through portions of Delaware,Maryland,Pennsylvania and of course New Jersey. Stopped for lunch at a nice Diner and a BBQ restaurant yesterday. Each ride was approx 170 miles round trip. Felt good to get some in before the winter shows up in earnest. Bike needs a bath but I can’t bring myself to not take the opportunity when it presents itself. Gotta work this weekend but will hope for maybe one more before the holidays. January and most of February are usually so cold it just takes some of the fun out of it but that’s life I’ve been told. Good luck in Ohio.

That's one thing I like about living in central Texas. I went for a ride Saturday and did over 200 miles before I was done. It was about 40 degrees when I left the house at 6:30 to meet some friends for breakfast. By the end of the day, it was almost 70 degrees.

You guys are making me jealous. We sold the house in Nov. Everything is packed away including the bikes. Hope to find a new place before spring so I can get back on two wheels.

Today (Saturday) the temp outside is 40 degrees but the sun is shining and the wind is calm. I am suiting up to take the old Voyager out for a ride. Where I end up I dont know but I have to get out. Wish me success.

Cushman I am still having trouble with my knees well mostly the right one. However I am going to physical therapy every Tuesday and Thursday. Getting a little better. However I just had to get out on the only sunny day we are going to have for a while. Did ninety three miles. Got lost. Took me a while to realize I had a GPS built into my phone that got me back to civilization. The roads in St. Landry parish are horrible. during the ride I lost a chrome cap on the fender bar and the brace broke near where it mounts to those bolts. I am going to have to remove it, the fender and tighten all the bolts. Hopefully I can find another chrome cap. The brace will have to be JB welded. By late afternoon I was feeling really cold but fortunately I got home before dark.

I should have stopped at the Harley shop. They were have some kind of big shindig going on there. Ok I cant win them all!

Mr.Jensee,It is really good to hear you got a 92 mile ride in yesterday, :woohoo: Sorry to hear about the minor misshape, but i know you can repair that!
The roads around here have really been damaged due to the cold weather, and I have to dodge potholes every where, when it is warm enough to ride.
Today it got up to 34,but started dropping and bringing in the snow.
Keep up with the knee therapy  and I will keep praying for you.

The weather report sounds like there is going to be enough rain Saturday to wash the salt off the roads, and maybe :hmm: still warm enough :cold: Sunday to take a short ride :please:

Cushman dont count me out as of yet. I got a cortisone injection in each knee last Thursday and have been without pain now for a week. I think if I need more of these I wont hesitate to get them as I no longer have a fear of needles. Anything to feel normal again. :woohoo:

Mr.Jensee, that is an encouraging word for the day  Thank you :thanks:
I needed encouragement after my day at work!
My customer wanted an aftermarket hydraulic clutch hub put in a 7 disc 14" clutch.I bolted the unit together, bolted it to the flywheel of the tractor, and tried to roll the front half of the tractor back up to the transmission housing, and it refused to go the last 7/8 inch. After about 1 hour of trying,I undid everything and found the clutch hub was incorrectly milled! We were able to repair it at our shop, but 2 hours of labor turned in to 9 hours :tho:

If the weather cooperates Sunday I want to take the bike out again. It is supposed to be warm in the mid sixties and sunny. Almost every day it has been either cold or rainy or both. I pity you guys up north awaiting spring with all the bad weather and snow, but I know what you mean looking at these grey skies every day.

amended post: Didn't ride Sunday but I got to ride to my doctor's appointment on the other side of town Tuesday! It was brave of me to negotiate 1pm traffic in Lafayette. However I had no issues and I have been feeling great since the cortisone injections now almost three weeks ago. Being pain free is something I almost forgot existed. I cant wait for this weather to give us some sunshine again so I can repeat the ride.
