New to Voyager questions

Post by Hadyn »

Hello
I am excited to be riding again and just bought a 1990 Voyager. I have a couple of questions though.
1 is there a fuel shut off valve.
2 can any recommend mufflers for the bike the last PO put straight pipes on it and it is way to loud. Or is it cheaper to go with used pipes.
3 there is no power what so ever to the radio I have read that there are 2 fuses at the back and on in the fuse box. Which one would be for the overall power.

Welcome to the asylum.
1 is there a fuel shut off valve.
No. It's an electric pump.

Some of us have wired a switch to defeat the starter solenoid. This allows filling the float bowls without turning the motor over. If the bike's been sitting for a week or so, this lets it start as if it had been ridden earlier that day.
2 can any recommend mufflers for the bike the last PO put straight pipes on it and it is way to loud. Or is it cheaper to go with used pipes.
I bet cheaper to go used. You might look for Cobra pipes, AFAIK the only real bolt-up alternative. Search here for possibly fitting stock Harley pipes, which are readily available because the Harley crowd almost always puts on pipes that are way too loud.
3 there is no power what so ever to the radio I have read that there are 2 fuses at the back and on in the fuse box. Which one would be for the overall power.
Can't help you there. Don't need no stinkin' radio. But I've seen lots of threads about the radio.

There is also a 7.5 A fuse mounted to the back of the amplifier-----this fuse isn't shown on any schematics.

Thanks for the responses I think I will look into used pipes on eBay. And I will check for that fuse.

Is there any chance to recover the pipes the foolish PO removed from a nice looking machine.
