Replacing oil pan

Hi everyone, the front drain hole on my oil pan is cracked. What’s all involved in replacing the oil pan.mines a 1996 voyager. Thanks

Search is your friend. You'll need to loosen at least one of the headers. While in there, consider replacing the dozen or so o-rings and some gaskets. That stuff has a finite lifetime. Pretty sure this is a pricy part.

If you are referring to the most forward drain plug. You're in for more bad new's to follow.

Hi there, yes it looks like I’m going to need one. The hole is cracked & it runs into the body. I live 30 miles east of Pittsburgh, Pa. Phone # is 724-837-7621. Do you know what gaskets & o-rings I would need?

Look on the manuals available here for the parts you need. I wasn't able to get all from one vendor. The local dealer gave me wrong parts -- go by PNs in the manual. This isn't a big job, but it is a PITA. And I had to wait on o-rings. I assume you should've had a skid plate. But honestly, after sorting my suspension -- Progressives in front and replace oil in shocks -- bottoming like this hasn't been an issue.

What other bad news?

Usually it is the rear plug and filter that take the hit. The front plug is rather far up. Higher than the exh pipes. Did the exh pipes take the hit also ? Do a good inspection of all the damage. As you have seen there are quite a few people that can help out with parts. Hope that you can get what you need to get this going again and there is no damage to the lower case. How did all this happen ? Gene Kap

Gene, it didn’t take a hit, I changed the oil & when I started the bike up it was dripping oil. I checked & thought it was a bad washer on the drain plug. Drained the oil & looked, there was a crack on one side. I must have tightened plug to much.

coffeeboy4, be careful you do not overtighten the plugs, the drain plug torque is 22' lbs, the filter is 14.5' lbs. I have had to replace my washers a couple of times in the 9+ years I have had my' 99, as they do start to crush.
