These bowls were clean, when I put the carb's back together. Also no fuel tank, new lines, new filter. Only thing I can figure out. Fuel pump had this stuff inside it. Then got pumped into the carbs?
The tank did have rust starting inside it. So may have well came from the fuelpump. But now the tank is clean as a new one inside.
Any thoughts on the stuff in the pic of the bowl?

Your probably right on with the fuel pump idea. That amount isn't bad at all although to those of us who are fanatical any amount of iron oxide is too much.
Just drain the bowls every now and then and that should clear up. Believe me there have been much worse than that, especially if water had been sitting in the bowls. I mean real nasty goop!

Re: Fuel bowl trash?
I agree it could be ran like that. But one carb was leaking some fuel. And I don't like anything other then clean fuel in the bowl. I know some would just let it slide. But the older I get, the more I want stuff perfect. 99% of life is not perfect, so we like to think we can get something perfect these days.
Also got mad and rebuilt the carb's even thought all the jets and stuff were clean. Figured I have been through them three times. This time going all out, and hope there right.
Now to decide if I will let the tank stay just clean. Or coat the inside where It can't rust again?
Have a Quart of the Red-Kote lining. so guess I may as well use it. But with the small fuel outlet. Fear I may stop it up while applying the Red-Kote.
