I apologize for not getting back for so long. I have been away for business quite a bit recently. Fortunately I have been able to ride the bike on many of these excursions.
I have been trying many of the suggestions, and I appreciate everyone's contributions.
I tried revving the engine, and watching the lights. The lights do not dim.
I followed the advice in one of the posts, and adjusted the idle, and the bike HAS NOT STALLED ONCE SINCE!!!! (WOOOO HOOOO). This week I took a trip near Huntington, WV. After riding for a couple hours I got caught in a BIG traffic jam. I sat in bumper to bumper traffic for about another two hours. I would move a little bit, and then had to stop, move a little, stop, etc.. All of this pulling in and letting out the clutch, with NO STALLS.
I have ridden everyday this week, and riding has actually been fun again. I have not been worried I was going to break down at each stop. Thanks to everyone for your help.
I have been thinking about having the alternator rebuilt, since I am still concerned that when the bike was stalling it did not have enough juice to restart right away. I will continue to try the tests you all have suggested.

Where is your idle set at and where was it set at?

I set the idle at 1000 rpm. It was below 1000 before.Chris near Kansas City wrote:Where is your idle set at and where was it set at?

Re: Bike cuts off when Clutch Pulled IN
A few years ago I had a similar problem. At cold ,in summer would be sluggish. cold in winter really tough. I replaced the battery, during the winter. After a couple weeks, the problem started again.
At times when either leaving a intersection-- or stopping at one-- I don't remember witch one, it would stall. If I had it warm, it would be hard to start.
Come to find out, The ground wire, at the block was junk. Re bolted it to the clutch housing, and no problem since. same battery, as I trickle charge once a week, for 12 - 18 hours, with water filled to eyes.
