Re: 150/90-15 tires
Hi, Looking on the net I've found 9 makes of tires.
Dunlop D404
Maxxis Touring M6011
Avon Cobra Chrome
Pirelli MT 66 ROUTE
Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra
Michelin Commander III Cruiser
Bridgestone E-Max R
Continental ContiTour
Kenda K673 Kruz
Finding some one that sells & stock's them is another question. Good luck.

May have to resort to ordering on-line and either mounting it yourself or taking it to a shop (knowing they don't carry it) to get mounted & balanced.

Do *NOT* use the D404. They are not rated for the weight of our bikes. Yes, they were OEM, and they were crap.

Re: 150/90-15 tires
Pirelli RT66 seem plenty available, and cheap. I like them even if they don't last very long -- don't mind throwing some money at the local shop to mount them. They perform great, especially because they're 1990 technology ... just like the rest of my bike.
(But I do need to pay closer attention before taking off on a 5K ride. )

Re: 150/90-15 tires
Yes, D404's came stock. I don't know why they don't work on the front, but they sure don't. (I had one.) AFAIK, they work fine on the back ... and on other bikes. (I just got one on the back of another bike, sorta a cheap/emergency affair.)Van Voyager wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 6:46 amAccording to the the Dunlop site the 150/90-15 D404 is rated for 827 lbs.GrandpaDenny wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 11:47 pm Do *NOT* use the D404. XII seems to have especially touchy front suspension.

Re: 150/90-15 tires
I bought my xii back in October 21 and it had newer Mich Commanders. During my recent front to back maintenance I found a 2+ inch gash in the middle of the rear tire. So I internet shopped and found @ J&P cycles (cheapest I could find) Conti Tour tires that come with free roadside towing. Mounted them myself F&R. They are nice.

Re: 150/90-15 tires
Using balance beads?
(I have a great local independent shop that I don't mind supporting. But so far, that's just been mounting tires and rebuilding forks.)

No balance needed. Rolls along nice and smooth.

Re: 150/90-15 tires
I do that with d/s bikes -- don't go very fast, usually in the dirt; and they vibrate like crazy anyway.
My XII tires always come back from the shop with weights on the rim. Maybe it's that 90's Pirelli technology.

Re: 150/90-15 tires
I figured this mount myself and no balance would trigger some response.
I do the same on my KTM's dual sport and MX no balance. On the xii I put the wheels on the manual balance wheel true stand I have and they were so close I didn't bother and cant notice.

Re: 150/90-15 tires
I suggest Avon Cobra Chrome 170/80-15, they are cheaper than 150s, easier to find and they make a really delicious ride. I use to drive fast, 80-90 mph, and they are perfectly stable and trustworthy.
Wear is slow and uniform throughout the tread, I have made about 2000 miles with them and they are still in an environment of 80% of useful life

Re: 150/90-15 tires
I was wondering if a 170 would fit with the rear fender and driveshaft. Good to know it does for the future. I think the 170's have a higher load rating toodr_makoki wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:42 pm I suggest Avon Cobra Chrome 170/80-15, they are cheaper than 150s, easier to find and they make a really delicious ride. Re: 150/90-15 tires
That's load range 74. That's the weight rating of a FRONT American Elite MT90-B16. The Elite 4 150/90B16 has a weight rating of 81 (but is unfurtunately out of production, as we've been discussing). BTW I just checked J&P cycles, and they don't have the American Elite in 150/90B15 either. Yes, it fits perfectly, but you will need to take all the air from the tyre when fitting the wheel on bikeBonnie and Clyde wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 2:28 pm
