Motorcycle jack

So i ran across a handful of posts on the forum here about concern over crushing exhaust pipes by lifting the voyager with a standard harbor freight motorcycle jack.
My question is, has anyone actually had this happen, or just being cautious?
I ask because j have used this jack to lift a few big bikes, specifically my yamaha venture, where the pipes run under the frame and it's basically resting on the pipes, with no problem whatsoever, and I'm wondering if the voyager just has flimsier pipes?

The headers are double-wall and very tough. Don't know whether that's all the way back to the mufflers.

But I'd still build a simple wooden cradle to the frame, to avoid torquing the the head connectors if nothing else.

Someone on the forum used to make an adapter that fit on those jacks. I bought one and it works great. Front fits around behind the pipes to the frame and the rear sits under the center stand.

With parts being difficult to find, I will not take a chance on crushing the pipes. I gave my HF Lift away, after I tried some adapters I found on the market -- they did not work.

Never occurred to me to build an adapter out of wood -- didn't see posts on this idea until after I had given it away.

If a metal adapter for HF Lifts were offered, I would buy one, and after it arrived, I would visit HF and buy another Lift. It would be so damned fine to be able to use that HF Lift!... Grrr! Cheers!

I bought one and used it, along with a couple of hockey pucks, on my Vulcan 1500. It worked fine, but it always seemed a bit wobbly and top-heavy with a bike on it. I got rid of it and just use one of those flat top scissor type jacks - use it on all mike bikes, including ZN1300 Voyager.

Here are a few pics of my adapter on the HF lift. They just bolt onto the lift arms and easily removed if not needed. Work great with the Voyager XII

Well, started winter maintenance yesterday, and first on the list was taking the wheels off to get the new tires put on. Tried the jack, and honestly saw no problems with the exhaust pipes crushing, but it was WAY teetery and unstable. So that adaptor is definitely the way to go!
