Morning guys,
I have a 2001 XII and recently replaced the O-rings on the fuel rail and reinstalled the carbs but I’ll be dam if I can’t get the black LOWER AIR BOX back in between the carbs and the frame. I’ve tried pushing , pulling and twisting from both sides but it seems I need another 1/8” clearance. I have done it before years ago but can’t remember how I did it. Can someone clue me in?
Thank you,
Sci

I put the carbs in last, between the boots.

Re: LOWER AIR BOX installation clearance issues
When i did my carbs, i took the whole back of the bike apart like the manual says. Lower airbox still a pain, but prolly a little easier. But a big pain taking the whole back of the bike apart.

Re: LOWER AIR BOX installation clearance issues
My factory service manual is very poor and lacking when it comes to removing the carbs. It has two lines; remove air cleaner housing, remove carburetors. peeve poor. Guess I will take the carbs off again and get that air box in first.

I replaced my carbs on my bikes several times. I never remove the lower air box. I just remove the bolts and pry it aft to get the carbs out and same with putting them back in.

Re: LOWER AIR BOX installation clearance issues
Thanks for the tip Voy. I am going to add a side note to my factory manual.

*That should be added to the Tech Center Tech Tips. Very good time saver.
