Here is a photo of the inside of the tips.
Okay, your bloody autopsy suggests that the stock exhaust is much more corked-up than I thought. I've been under the impression that the outside outlet handled most of the exhaust most of the time and that the inside outlet somehow bleed-off higher-pressure situations. Your photo suggests that the two are on a common Y, with the different sooting just subtle preferential flow. I've apparently given MaKa too much benefit of the doubt.
I can't tell from the photo whether that small inner pipe has drilled holes; and I wish your coroner looked a bit further upstream -- opened up all the external cover. I have to believe there's more going on than just a small pipe running through a large cosmetic canister. Surely this is more sophisticated than a simple glass-pac muffler?
Hello, Harley muffler. Although I don't understand their plumbing either ... but from what I can tell, the two Harley tailpipes are at least the same, unlike pre-09 pipes. There's obviously more behind all this design than I understand, which is why I'll keep everything bolt-up in case it doesn't work out.
