Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.

No spark on my 92

No spark on my 92
I need some assistance with my 92. To make a long story short , I bought a Yamaha FJR1300 to do some touring on because I wanted something lighter and the price was right. Because I live in Ontario Canada our riding season is short I didn’t spend a lot of time on my trusted XII. Occasionally she’d get a spin when the Mrs felt like an afternoon ride, but it was few. I put her in the garage for winter as I’ve done for 15 years and the 65,000+ miles I’ve put on the clock as the 3rd owner. This bike has been SO good, I can’t even tell you. But coming out into the spring sunshine last Sunday, it wouldn’t fire. I’ve drained the bowls and fired just to make sure I had fuel, checked fuses, took the left side apart just to make sure the main pin connector wasn’t corroded. Pulled #1 and #4 plugg and held them up to a piece of steel and I have no spark. I would enjoy to hear some thoughts of what to check before I have to get into digging out the coils! I almost feel I am missing something simple, but after looking through my manual I am coming here for some help. Please share your thoughts! Thanks

You should check for failed ignition switch wiring harness,you can research the problem on this forum.
I had that fail on my '99 with just over 22,000 miles,shortly after I bought it in 2009,
the harness was wrapped too tight around he stearing head and cracked the wires in the insulation.
I would have thought if that was your problem,it would have happened already however.

You won’t get spark from a piece of steal that is not grounded to the frame or engine. When I wake my bikes up in the spring I crank them for a while to get the oil circulated. Then I spray Ether into the intakes and they start right up.

I assume you mean that the middle spark plugs do have a spark. (You can check by pulling the caps off -- probably don't need to pull the plugs.)
Do a search on "no spark". Someone posted a very similar problem here just 2 mos ago. https://www.amervoyassoc.org/forum/view ... 594#p98594
Sounds like either a dead or disconnected coil. IIRC, this is the left coil -- but check with the manual before digging into it. Some disassembly (probably) required.
If no spark anywhere, you'll need to spend some quality time with the wiring diagram and harness to see what's come undone or broken. As mentioned, maybe a ground.

Make sure you have a ground to your igniter box. Mine has a dedicated ground right to the battery, I sometimes forget to attach it when putting the battery back in, it was a suggested alteration on this forum years ago. I’ll take a pic later so you see which wire going to the igniter is the ground
