Thanks for the report on the Sena, Tony! What's the power source on these units? Does the bluetooth allow it connect to your cell when a call comes in or you want to play tunes? I guess I need to check this out!
Now, none of you heard me say this, but my local accessories guy told me that the oval head issue is quite common and they simply take their thumb and slightly compress the styrofoam in the area of the tightness until it feels right. Of course, technically this would void the integrity of the helmet, but we're talking about maybe a 3/4" wide section leaving all of the rest around it intact. Personally it wouldn't bother me to make this little modification to get a perfect fit. And, we're also talking about compressing it maybe 1/16".
Another solution is to send a slightly loose fitting helmet (around the cheeks) to a specialty shop to have them ad a little bit of foam padding in the cheeks. This effectively makes it an oval fitting helmet without affecting it's integrity. Some helmet makers (Fulmer is one) will take a helmet back and do slight modifications like this. Might want to check on this.
Me? I'll just use the thumb trick!

Re: Helmets for an oval shape head
The power is a battery in the Sena unit it's self and according to reviews lasts 12 hrs of talk time and a couple weeks standby. It can also be hooked directly to a 12v socket on the bike with the supplied cord.trikebldr wrote:Thanks for the report on the Sena, Tony! What's the power source on these units? Once set up it automatically sync's directly to the phone. When I power the Sena up it says "hello" and within seconds locks to the phone. It allows for music playback, phone calls and communication with other headsets all done with a soft tap of the jogg dial on the unit and can be done through either voice commands or turning the dial.
It also has two Bluetooth receivers in it so you can link to either a second headset or GPS and all link up to 4 more headsets. It's very flexible.
I'm still learning so that's about all I can say for now but first impressions are great and the intuitive controls work really well with my gloves on.
