Wow, now I don't feel so bad. I tore mine off putting it on a trailer (in a hurry). Mine looked almost exactly like the pics.On-rock1 wrote:I had the same thing happen. I replaced the broken part and gaskets. But now it doesn't start. Nothing when I press the button. I believe it has something to do with the oil sensor that is on the bottom of the engine. Did you have to something to get yours to start?
I thought sure I'd killed the bike.
Junkyard replacement installed. Just got it back together a week ago. Starts/runs fine! Haven't taken it on the street yet; replacing front tire.
Regarding no start:
- Do the basic check first: Recheck any/all connectors you can see, especially any you disconnected while working.
- The oil pressure sensor won't prevent the motor from cranking or the motor from running.
- Do you have dash ligths? if not, it's probably a dead battery, or possibly bad ignition switch.
- Do the lights dim when you push the starter button? If so, it's probably a weak battery.
- If you have dash lights but the lights don't dim and the starter won't try to crank when you push the button, it's most likely related to the 'starter lockout' switch in the clutch lever assembly.
Hope this helps.
