Got my carbs out this morning. What I did was to take a portable hair dryer and heated up each of the outside rubber tubes connecting the carbs to the lower air box. Once they were pliable, I removed them, carefully, I might add, and this gave me more room to rock it back and forth.
Essentially it didn't seem like that much of a hassle. BUT, saying that, I just jinxed myself so I will probably have a hell of a time putting them back in.
By far the most difficult time I had was detaching the throttle cables even when the carbs were way over to the left.
