I have found that if I use a level on the trunk luggage rack, and put shims under the center stand to level the bike,3qts 22 oz will have the oil at 1/3 full in the sight glass :hmm: :gig: I have used shell rotella t6 5w-40 with no problems on my '99 XII  I went to a full synthetic on my GS1100GK since oil testing showed conventional oil broke down due to the high oil temperature .I have stayed with it on my XII,but I doubt it is necessary on this bike due to water cooling keeping the engine cooler than the Suzuki.
