Re: Moonshine luch run 2013
Planning on riding the Curt Gran Memorial Saddlesore / Moonshine ride (Casey to Canton , MS and back to Casey) . Hope to see you when I pick up my certificate. Planning on doing it on the Kawasaki Voyager XII that is being resurrected. Bike is still apart so it should be fun. Will be doing a Saddlesore on this bike on April 1st also and planning on using it for the MS5000 ride. Good Times...

Sorry to say I'm going to miss this marvelus event this year. My Sister is undergoing surgery and that means I have to stay close with my folks for the next couple of weeks.

"Dry" and "Moonshine" sound strange in the same sentence...Hope it's true! My wife ad I along with our Valkyrie friends will be in Greenup on Friday night. We are hoping to go the dinner at Richards Farm that night. We'll also be staying Saturday night and will go to the chili supper with the Fire Department guys. I hope we can meet some of you there. And hope to do more that just say a quick hello to Chris this year! Neal, sorry you can't make it. Hope all goes well with your sister.
Please take my phone number with you. See you there! Dennis

I thought I'd post a tentative schedule for myself and maybe the others traveling from Kansas City, for maybe meeting up somewhere?
Friday night, I'm planning on eating at Richard's Farm Restaurant. $17 including tip and tax for a decent buffet. Lots of bikes, but you could stop by and check out the rides and eat elsewhere. Will probably be eating upstairs. There is a main dining room where they have the awards thing, but it gets crowded/packed. If I recall, I have spotty cell coverage at the restaurant, but if you'd like, you can pm me for my phone number if you'd like to try it.
Saturday, we usually stop at the official hotel/motel in Casey around 8:30 + or -, before heading to Moonshine. Hit Moonshine around 9 or 9:30. Maybe an official meeting at the SE corner at 11 or 11:30??????? We'll probably head for Effingham around noon to chill out or take a nap, or ice cream, or all 3? Meet back at the high school in Casey for the chili supper around 5pm????
Something like that?

Re: Moonshine luch run 2013
Hey Chris, Your schedule sounds good. If the couple coming with us are able to leave the St Louis area early enough we plan on doing dinner at Richards as well. If we are able to make it I'll look for you in the upstairs area. Since we will be up on Friday night it will be easier to plan our time a bit better. We may not meet you at the hotel but we will look for you at 11:30 on the S.E. corner if that works for you. I will P.M. you to get your number. I know last year we had a somewhat spotty phone signal as well. I will be wearing a white Kawasaki "Ticket to ride" baseball cap.
We are planning to do the chili supper as well, so maybe we'll see you there as well.
Hope you (and everyone else) have a safe ride! We look forward to seeing everybody there!

Re: Moonshine luch run 2013
Just completed my Saddlesore 1000 (Curt Gran Memorial Moonshine Ride) yesterday. Did it on the 1990 Voyager XII. 1324 total miles in 19 hours. Chris you may have to pick up my certificate at the awards ceremony for me. I will be coaching high school softball on Friday night and a tourney on Saturday. Will be meeting up with you guys hopefully sometime on Saturday night to enjoy singing Randy Travis songs karaoke style. Be safe on the ride.

Re: Moonshine luch run 2013
Mary Lou and I got home safely mid-afternoon after a quick lunch stop with our friends at "Fast Eddies Bon Aire", a well known local gem. (Or dive...beauty being in the eye of the beholder!) It was nice to put a few faces with names at Moonshine, albiet a brief visit.
The Moonshine Lunch Run is really a gathering of people that "get it".
There's a t-shirt that reads something like, "Those that dance are considered insane by those that cannot hear the music". Those of us that love to ride and all beauty and peace and friendship it brings to us are sometimes considered insane by those that don't. We rode 160 miles each way in chilly weather to eat a hamburger. Last year we rode in the rain to eat a hamburger. Some ride through the snow. Some ride a thousand, 1500, 2000 miles or more. The Moonburgers are just a tasty bonus. It's all about the time spent together. Meeting new people. Making new friends. Maybe catching up with old friends. Hanging out at the hotel we were in was wonderful. The "where ya' froms" and the "That yours?" And the fun stories of trips in the book and trips on the to-do lists. I was able to hang out with Phil, a former Navy avaiator now living in Kansas. He rides an FJR. Thomas is a young police officer from Georgia on an ST. There were a couple of other guys from Texas that also were on ST's. Ran in to them a couple of times for brief conversations. A couple, Bill and Laurie, somewhere around 30-35 years old were in the room next to us. They rode down from the Milwaukee area. It was her first motorcycle trip and she was having a great time. And then there was Rufus. Rufus is 70 years old and a retired employee of the Chicago Public Schools. He rode, (or drove), a "Thoroughbread Stallion". It is a three wheeled vehicle with a Ford Ranger drive train. Heat, A/C, steering wheel, automatic transmission, and just about bell and/or whistle known to man! oh, and a matching trailer. He can't ride a two wheeler any more due to health issues. Rufus has "been there and done that". Just one of those great older gentelmen that can spin a yarn that will keep you spellbound. A true character that I'll never forget.
The Lunch Run is great. No venders. Nobody out to cash in on anything. To borrow a couple of the great lines from the movie, "Field of Dreams". "Is this Heaven? No, it's Moonshine."
I can't wait for next year!

2fer, it was great to talk with you! I'm glad a bunch of you decided to make the trek to Moonshine. Moonshine 2013 will have to be my AVA rally this year. Without a ride to Tennessee in October, I was a going through a little Voyager friend withdrawal. Was a good weekend!
