Re: 27th International AVA Rally
I second that sentiment. If you pick the right location in Florida, you have all sorts of ride options that could land you on the Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico, horse country, amusement parks, historic areas, and of course Carl Leo's place.Mr Jensee wrote:How come nobody recommends sunny Florida? If the politicians can see it's importance surely the AVA could at least give it a glance.

Re: 27th International AVA Rally
I would go along with Florida if we could pick a time when the temperature and humidity are both below 80.

Now you know why I don't put a lot of miles on my motorcycles. Spring and fall (spring when it isn't raining every day) are the only great times to ride in the south.Neal wrote:Amen on the heat and humidity....I've tried being there in June or July.........Even DeGray Lake was TOO far into the 'heat' zone ! ! ! !![]()

Re: 27th International AVA Rally
Heat and humidity can be a real pain in the south, and that guaranteed afternoon thunderstorm is also somewhat of a challenge. I sneak rides in periodically even during the summer months here in FL when it's above 90 on the thermometer, and close to 100% humidity. I just pick the best times of day to get out there, and if I'm going for a leisure ride, I pick areas where I know I won't have as much of an issue with the heat like along the coast, or interior in the more wooded areas near the river that provide shade and a good breeze. It's been pretty hot here lately, but I've managed to get the bike out on a few jaunts in the 200-300 mile range while trying to dodge those summer showers. That's half the fun.Mr Jensee wrote:Now you know why I don't put a lot of miles on my motorcycles.
