Last rail installed and a new cruise control box put on. Now I just need to find a set of mirror visors.

If you can't find them I have been kicking around the idea of making them out of mirror polished stainless steel. I have made some of the vents from the original oem's and will have a few sets finished soon. Let me know how you do looking for the mirror trim. Gene Kap

Very nice! I actually got the chrome vents from Mike when I bought a lot of these rails from him. If you make the visors Id be happy to buy a set from you.

Got OEM on my '94, but nada on my '03.

Got the backend together today. I was hoping to have it finished but it seems I have a pretty bad coolant leak somewhere. Its running back and dripping down in front of the kickstand so a real pain to find. Looks like tomorrow night Ill have to pull the radiator yet again.

Got the rear brake bled but having issues with the front. Theyre still very spongy after a lot of bleeding.

Also got the brake light modulator hooked up. If I get hit with this many lights on the back Im pretty certain it wont be an accident. I have the light up mudflap on there but one of the sockets doesnt work so I still need to get that fixed.

Got the horn installed and the front put back on tonight. Then I realized I didnt plug my mp3 cord into the back of the radio, swap out the clutch line and one of my fairing lights came unplugged.

So tomorrow I get to take it apart again but those few small things shouldnt be too bad.

Well I guess I may as well think about drawing them up. I had hoped someone could make a paper template of the originals with a mark to show where the screw holes are. I really didn't want to make the mirror trim, and not be an exact replacement item. Give me some time, I have to order some more material for vents. Gene Kap.

Got it all done but I need to pull the calipers off. They are still way to soft after bleeding but I see the flat clip thing in there can cause this. Do that, pop the caliper covers on and off to the car wash!

Found out the left fairing has just barely enough room for the Stebel Nautilus. Also found out that the cruise box makes a great spot for the suction cup on my phone mount.

Was quite surprised to see the inside fo the clutch MC when I put the SS line on it last night. THink it was original vintage 1988 fluid in there.

That is some nasty remnants of what was supposed to be brake fluid... How bad was the front brake fluid ? Your making great progress bringing this one back to its full glory. You won't be disappointed with it when its all done up and caught up on things neglected. Gene Kap.

Looked like used oil. Cant really tell from the picture but that crud in the bottom is about a quarter inch thick all the way across. Between the new fluid and SS line it feels like a completely different clutch.

The brake fluid actually wasnt too bad. About what you would expect after a couple years of use. Guessing it was flushed last time the brake pads were changed.

Just took it out for a short spin. Rode great but had the wobble in the front if you take one hand off the bars. Guessing its probably the steering head since the tires are brand new and good quality and the springs are new.

Gee, that was the direction my clutch fluid was heading. it was starting to get beyond rootbeer colored and kinda sludgy, but yours far away takes the cake. I will post pictures with the story of my adventures and mis-adventures as soon as i can.

I just broke off a mounting bolt head that connects the saddlebag mount to the rear fender frame. I just checked the snugness of it along with the others since i had the wrench.
As much as I wish i hadn't touched it, on the other hand, I am glad i did. My guess is it would have popped off going down the road shortly.
I believe when I had to punt during the driveshaft change, to get the rear tire out, I used a jack under the saddlebag mount (only place I could hold the rear end up since i don't have a cherry picker or a ceiling hoist. I had put a bike jack infront of the center stand and it was too far forward, so it lifted the front more than the back. Anyway, too much on that one bolt head (stamped #4).
Now i have to find, or buy an easy-out of the correct size, then drill and work it out. All that after i take enough of the back off to get to it (the saddlebag mount is in front of it).

Actually this posting was just a way of blowing off steam after thinking one was making progress and then getting set way back. (Have to go to my son's house Friday to Sunday - over 16 hrs rt and get to play with Grandkids - that is why it is a "have to"). Then leaving Wednesday for 2 weeks work related (Philippines), no, not a vacation. So timing is not great for this to happen. I did get the brake and clutch fluids finally changed (on both bikes while at it).
Thanks for listening. Love how your bike is turning out up there in the frozen north (5 years in Minot, ND thanks to the Air Force - bought my one and only new bike there before I left).

Once you get your vent covers on the only black left on the bike will be tires and seats.
Since we all know how well the Voyager XII's ride, I think we can all agree that you've got yourself a keeper there. Plus you are now a pro at dis-assembly~reassembly!

While you are acquiring accessories, I would recommend mirror extensions. I got a pair from Jim at the Kanab rally and enjoy seeing past my gloves to what's behind me. Plus I put convex mirrors in the flat part they have for better seeing whats coming up beside me.

Got a new pic at work today with the vent covers on. Only missing a couple chrome things now. Front fender extension, mirror visors, passenger board covers, think Mike said there was a trunk hump cover out there too. Anything else you guys can think of?

When I re-plate all the chrome this winter I think I'm also going to do the small stuff like the brake/clutch levers and reservoir covers. The aluminum engine covers will be done too. Also going to replace all the visible screws and bolts with allen head stainless. Did all that on my XS and was very happy with the results.
