NorCal Voyagers Club ride to Hurly
Finally we have a plan, this is open to anyone that wishes to join us along the way to Hurly, WI
Will I've roughed out the route to Hurly, WI 2400 miles of fun and adventure! We’ll leave Sacramento on Sunday morning June 12, 2016.
We’ll ride I 80 to Winnemucca, NV then head north on US95 to our first overnight stop. The next day we’ll travel to Lewiston, ID and pick up a Plaque for the best of show winner from 2015, then onto Coeur d’Alene, ID. Now we’ll back track a little bit back to Lewiston and ride US 12 to Missoula, MT. US 12 is rated as one of the top 10 roads to ride in the U. S.
Next day we’ll head over and ride through Glacier National Park ending the day in Shelby, MT. Now we ride US 2 all of the way to Hurly, WI.
All of the Motels are CHOICE MOTELS except for the Crossroads Inn in Shelby. Three things about Choice Motels 1; make reservations online. 2; become a member of their rewards program oh 3; always chose the rate for Seniors/AARP. Choice motels will have a hot breakfast included. This saves about $10 per person. You’ll have to call the Crossroads Inn to make reservations.

Re: NorCal Voyagers Club ride to Hurly
We're rolling right along. We left Sacramento, CA on Sunday morning where we met up with Hank and Gert Thompson. We all rode a long day to Nampa, ID. Then on Monday rode up to Lewiston, ID and checked in on how the award plaques were coming along. They look very nice so polish those bikes. We now have two more classes a Super Custom and a M/C & Trike with trailer class. Solo trikes have there own class.
Back to the travels. We rode north to Coeur d'Arlene, ID. Today we rode the east side of lake Coeur d'Arlene. Was a bet damp but not wet. Stopped in Harrison, ID for my espresso, Hank Thompson got the owner of the coffee shop to open for an hour, so we could get our midmorning boost. This afternoon we rode US 12 from Lewiston to Missoula, MT over Lolo pass. It did rain on us in Lewiston and the temp was in the mid 50's all day except when we got to the summit of Lolo pass mid 40's.
Tomorrow is my birthday; what a way to spend this special day, out touring on my Voyager.

Happy birthday Don, hope that you are having a great birthday ride. We are leaving on Saturday to take the ferry across Lake Michigan on Sunday morning and then on to Hurley, probably arriving late afternoon.

Re: NorCal Voyagers Club ride to Hurly
Happy Birthday Don!!!
Unfortunately, again, I won't be at the Rally this year. I will be traveling, but have to be in Colorado for work (last time, for now).
Shelley and I will leave Sunday from Phoenix (low of 87, high of 118-119). Heading North to Boulder City, NV only 1st day (staying night with friends). Monday we will camp in Winnemucca, NV and then on to Vancouver, WA to see our one year old grandson with daughter and my 84 year old Mom.
Wife's 97 Vulcan 800 had issues. Changed the oil and discovered the rear brake cable had seized and when taking off the front exhaust, snapped off a stud. Bought the right tool and it is now out and will be replaced tomorrow. Other minor issues, but that is the biker life with older steeds to ride.
I will be writing up our life changes in a different post, just saying that this is our last ride with Phoenix as our home base (for now anyway).
Blessings to all who are heading out for the Rally, and condolences to all of us who wish we could be among them.
Ken

Re: NorCal Voyagers Club ride to Hurly
Don, I would love to, but we will be in Edgewood, NM (just past Albuquerque) by then. Our last planned day here will be the 17th of July. If you will be passing through that area let me know and if needed I will come your way.
Hoping to hook up with Ghostler at least for coffee as my son works down in Clovis, NM. I still haven't had a chance to put in my front Progressive shocks but i remember he did and figure maybe he will give pointers.
Blessings to you and Trish,
Ken & Shelley

This is on the way to the Rally, the day I found the center of the universe
On my 68th birthday after having a double espresso outside Glacier NP
Jim spent 4 hrs yesterday tutoring me on how to post pics yesterday. I rode to Ames, IA for schooling.

Re: NorCal Voyagers Club ride to Hurly - What's in a name?
I see on your posts, you list a '79 Vetter Terraplane, ( a sidecar) and it reminds me of my dad talking about a Hudson Terraplane (car) he once owned in the '30s. On top of that, I owned two Honda CB750's with Vetter fairings on them - some of the best bikes I ever owned!trikebldr wrote:Don, looks like you could carry everything, including the cast iron kitchen sink and a bathtub with it's own water supply!

Sidebar here!
Here's a pic of a Hudson Terraplane pickup, then my '79 Vetter Terraplane sidecar. Styling changed a bit between the two!
Then a pic of my '76 Gold Wing with a Vetter fairing, and the last pic is of my newest acquisition, an '82 Kwak KZ1100D Spectre with a Vetter fairing. Craig Vetter advanced fairing and aerodynamics design for motorcycles more than anybody before him.
OK, back to our regularly scheduled programming!
