Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
My rear shocks are loosing air, maybe 10lbs a couple days. Think this is the lines. Has anyone replaced the lines with after market hoses. What size are the threads. I can't afford Progressive shocks so a hose replacement works better for me. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
I'm willing to bet it's the 'O' rings in the shock air fittings. They dry out from old age. Cheap fix but time consuming. There are two different sizes for the in and out sides of the shocks but I can't tell you what they are. Take one of each size to your local hardware or auto parts store and they may be able to match them.

Re: Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
Replace them with Progressive Rear shocks. No air needed & the improvement in your ride is amazing

My shocks are in good shape I need hoses. They are in bad shape up front. No one has ever tried to replace the hoses? I like the air ride, I don't want or can afford Progressives. Thanks

So you are in need of a good set of FRONT hoses. And REAR hosesrandallar wrote:My shocks are in good shape I need hoses. They are in bad shape up front. No one has ever tried to replace the hoses? I like the air ride, I don't want or can afford Progressives. Thanks
Did you put a wrench on all the fittings first to see if its just a fitting leak or are your hoses in the front hard/cracked/ or rotted ?
I can give you a set of used hoses, for the front and back if you want.

Re: Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
Yes the hoses are frayed and in bad shape. I have removed them and retighten. The hose going into the canister is pretty bad. The one coming out is worse. The forks are ok and hold air fine. Thanks

Re: Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
So I found some truck air valve extensions. I took the out hose off from the canister and installed the air valve from the end and put it on the canister. This made a nice hose from the canister to the hole. Mounted them in the hole and works great. Replaced the orings and all I need now is an end on the hose that goes into the canister. It's 8mm thread and needs to attach to the hose. I'll find something but for now it working great.

Re: Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
Hello randallar;
The hose from the oil separating canister going to the inner fairing mount is the hose that seems to go the most. I suspect the sharp bend has something to do with the breakdown of the hose.
It would be very helpful to those of us who have this same problem if you could furnish the name of the manufacturer, and the part number, of the hose you found to work for you, and any adapters/fittings you used. Or, the name of the supplier you purchased the hose and/or fittings from and any other pertinent contact info about the parts and supplier.
The OEM hose is quite expensive at over $70.00 US.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Rear shocks are loosing air slowly
These extensions were very cheap. Just move the valve to the canister and put them on.
