Re: antenna
I got mine from Oreilly Auto Parts. It has worked well for the last four years.

Re: antenna
Have you noticed any difference in the audio quality? Like losing signal sooner? Also, could this be done with the CB antenna too?
Also, do you remember what the part number was for the antenna you bought?

Re: antenna
So this past weekend I was at O'Reilly and I picked up two of the Raptor 8" spiral antennas. and I have to say they look great. I can't believe it took me this long to go and get them.

Re: antenna
Be careful if you mess with the base. I came back from a trip where i was listening to bluetooth in my helmet so didn't notice my radio reception was having issues. But around town (Phoenix) i had poor reception. I thought I was going to have to replace the antenna wire (thinking something had pinched/cut it). Because it worked enough, I have put it off for almost two years. Another symptom was that when my 2 LED running lights were on I got noise when the signal got very weak (because others have reported noise from LED lights, i even bought, but haven't yet put on a replacement pair).
So, with strong signals in Phoenix, I have put this low on the to do list. Now I am currently in a rural area with weaker signals, it just was moved up on the list. So yesterday I started poking around the antenna mount, loosened it up to pull it out (not enough cable to fully do so), but since i couldn't, I carefully put it back together. Now stronger signal and no noise when running and lights on.
Just saying, sometimes these nuisance items have an easy fix. Oh and would swear i tried checking the mount before, but no change then.
I bought one of those shorty antennas and will try it again (but keep the original) now that maybe it will work for me.
Enjoy,
Ken

Re: antenna
That is really odd. I haven't had any issues with signal loss from the radio, or static noise from the leds. I have 6 - 12" led strips (2 on each saddle bag, 1 above and 1 below the radiator), 3 on the side of each saddle bag and two in the engine area. pPlus my marker lights. and my headlight is HID.
Never had an issue with signal loss.

Re: antenna
Those are marker LED's (except the HID). I am referring to driving lights (Cree type) that are 10w each. Others on this forum have reported issues with radio noise with them. My loss is only when the signal was very weak. In my case, it was also coupled with an antenna issue.Draxxis wrote:That is really odd. The reason i use them is that your regular headlight (single) can get lost in the vehicles behind you (my wife follows me on her Vulcan 800, so i am always checking to see her). The slightly bluish and much brighter looking lights help make you stand out against the other vehicles.
