Stolen bike RETURNED!
Well it wasn't my Voyager, but the reason I got her.
In February, my Victory 8 Ball was stolen from our parking lot at work.
Sept. 11 I received a phone from a Detective here in Corpus that my bike was recovered by a sister agency, nearly 300 miles away in East Texas.
The bike was almost intact when it was returned to me from impound.
Now.
Several things I have learned.
Ignition switches can and will get jacked. So will tank locks... thieves, do not care... your investment means nothing to them.
No matter how hard you try, they can steal your bike, but make it as hellish an ordeal as possible. I'm using rotor locks and another little tool.
Lojack (from a buddies experience) doesn't always work-they stripped the faux tank cover off his threw it in a ditch and were LONG gone when they tracked it down.
All that said, I am keeping my Voyager. Probably keeping the 8 Ball too, but definitely keeping the big girl. Wouldn't trade her or the people I've met on her for anything.
Thanks for helping almost total newb with import bikes. The site is one of the best tools I've ever run across and, with yall's help, I've gone from I wouldn't ride anything but a twin to there's a lot of quiet, dependable HP under those covers... gotta love and respect it.
Thanks guys!!!

Locks of any kind are just to keep honest people honest (as my Grandpa always said). You're positively right, they don't care and they'll do anything to get what they want. Glad you got it back, even happier you're keeping the Kaw too!

Re: Stolen bike RETURNED!
I just love a happy ending. Made my day to hear you got your bike back basically intact. Still would like to punch the thief for even violating your property and wrecking the ignition and tank lock!
Years ago I had a 650 Yamaha stolen and I didn't fare so well. He managed to drop the drain plug and burned up the motor. New pistons and bearings and it was back on the road. Then the county clerk transposed my name and his and they arrested me for stealing my own bike. Finally got a letter of apology from the Kansas governor at the time for the mix up.
All of this because somebody wants something they didn't work for! They used to HANG horse thieves, didn't they?

There is no fear of the law anymore. Just a huge sense of Entitlement.

Re: Stolen bike RETURNED!
Glad ya got your bike back ! after some repairs ,it should be back to where it was ?
We had our family car stolen from in front of our house ,they just needed it for a ride across town, But after the tow, impound fee, couple days storage, steering column and glass....it was a straight up "out of pocket" for me ! When I asked the cop that contacted me if they caught the perps.... he said "just be glad ya got your car back"

And that is exactly WHY our kids think it's OK to steal. Our cops can't be bothered with the small stuff anymore.Lucasind wrote:When I asked the cop that contacted me if they caught the perps.... he said "just be glad ya got your car back"

Re: Stolen bike RETURNED!
that is so wrong. It's the kids doing the small crimes that need to be caught and scared straight before they progress up to larger crimes. Might help the crime rates in our great nation.
