1995 1200 with Woodgrain accents on fairing

Post by macorey »

I looked at a 95 1200 and it has woodgrain accents on the fairing, and saddlebag top pocket covers. I don't think Kaw ever made one this way. Is it a different manufacturer of the fairing or someones creative customizing?
Here's a link to a posting of another one just like it.

Anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks.

That was made aftermarket, not sure of manufacturer. Have seen a couple of XII with that. One is a regular AVA Rally attendee. Chuck Kern from Indiana may know the maker of those wood panels, he owns a 99 with same wood panels.

The company that manufactured the wooden dash kits was called S.A.S.I. They are no longer in business, as far as I know. The kits were a bit pricy (@ $550 for a complete kit) I had the Burl wood kit and it was beautiful. I loved it. But the Las Vegas sun eventually took its toll on it. The aerospace adhesive was so good, I've had to piece out fairing pieces to get my bike back to looking normal again. It was nice while it lasted, but has been a pain ever since it weathered.
