WOW
I've had my 98 voyager for about 3 weeks now and tweaking this and that I think I got it running right. Took it out yesterday and ran it through the gears several times using 5000 rpm to redline. Good God y'all. This bike has a tremendous power band. It's more than I need, but cool it's available

Re: WOW
Had shifting problems once and when I got the bike back together took it out on the road with no windshield or bags to road test it. After a few test runs I got on it hard through all the gears. When I let off my eyes were watering for more reason than one, it scared the crap out of me. Never did it again. She definitely will get you where your are going quickly. I'm content now days to ride it like a Rolls Royce.

... + 1 .. on just cruisin' along! My favorite ol' sayin' I made up is,
I'm not in a hurry, I know where I'm headed and NOT in a hurry to get there!!!
.. also + 1 on the power, coming from a Nomad, this thing is frighting!!!
Do not know if I'll ever have the guts to WOT... and again NOT in a hurry!!!

Yeah, but how about when yer on the 1300?Lucasind wrote:I like the rolls royce comment ! My XII rarely EVER see's 5000 rpm either ! I like to just cruise along ...seeing the sights.....
I've heard the 1200 has more power than the 1300. If that's true, then the XII is surely scary! The 1300 is sometimes called the 140/140 for it's 140hp and 140+mph top end. I can vouch for the 140++ top end, but most dyno tests I've seen show 122hp, stock. Is 140mph enough for most of you?

Re: WOW
Yeah Bruce ....I gotta admit, I do catch myself winding the 6 cylinder up WAY more than I ever do the 4 cylinder
I just love the sound that baby makes when it's up on the pipe ! I have my secluded spots way out in the country and let er rip.........(sometimes)
My sixer dropped out of 5th gear on me twice this summer...... I notice that it only happened both times AFTER raising up on the shifter ,looking for that 6th gear that it needs !

Tony, I had mine drop out also after kicking up for 6th. I did a static test and found that when I lifted the shifter up while in 5th, then let it drop on it's own, it tends to flop a bit past the center, causing it to actually begin looking for 4th. You have to gently let it return to the center while in 5th. And, as you know, every time it slips out of gear, it gets closer to doing that all the time from tapered ramps and detents. DON'T DO THAT! When in question, always compare your speed to the rpms to see if you are already in 5th This applies to almost all bikes of the rising sun!
