I have searched the forum and have read all I can find about headsets.
I have had Chatterbox headsets for about 17 years. The clip on it has rusted and I used two sided tape to hole it in place as parts are not available.
I have purchased and new helmet and don't want to use tape so am looking for a new headset.
Most everyone here says J&M, but I'd like to hear opinions on all of them. EDsets, ICM, J&M, Chatterbox and any others.
I will be using it with my wife's headset and have read that could be an issue if they are not the same.
I have the lower cord but it looks to different on different brands (J&M looks to be D shaped). I also see that the J&M has two levels of performance.
I need to stay as low as possible on cost.
I also use this helmet on another bike and like to be able to disconnect the cord at the helmet.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Headset Differences
I have said this more than a number of times but keep getting ignored by the members here. I bought a UClear HBC200 Bluetooth unit which I picked up at Cycle Gear. The unit has advanced technology that does away with the boom microphone which I hated. I used to have some other units that had them and it didn't take long for the foam windscreen to get ripped off. Try to find another one to fit. Nearly impossible. When I bought mine I had a riding buddy and he purchased one as well. The range is great, almost a half mile between units. If you are riding in a group and everyone has the same UClear units you can daisy chain them to where you are talking together for over five or more miles. The audio is loud and clear with an echo if you are right next to each other and the volumes are up. The audio is duplex VOX so there is no need to key anything. Talking is like using a cell phone. My friend moved to Florida so I don't have anyone to ride with that I can communicate with. However the UClear HBC200 also allows you to link up with a smart phone and if you have a Bluetooth enabled GPS it will connect with that. What I really like is that if you have another brand Bluetooth unit the UClear will link up and work with them as well. It is worth checking them out. The price runs right at $200 a piece.
