1997 Voyager 1200 Mileage

Post by KQATL »

This has probably been covered before so forgive me if it's a repeat question. I couldn't find the search function for the general forum. I'm looking at picking up a 1997 Voyager with 68k on the clocks. An older gentleman owns the bike and from what he says owns more than a few motorcycles. It's immaculate for the year and runs/rides well. Being a younger guy that likes to ride I've had 4 bikes in the past ranging from a gsx1100f to a stripped 81 goldwing with mileage into the 45,000 range because they were easy on the wallet. That being said i'm not to familiar with the Voyagers and was wondering what the life expectancy for a dresser around that year is. From what I've read online it looks like hydraulic valves and a fairly easy maintenance schedule which are both a plus. How long do these guys run? Thanks in advance for the help.

200,000 miles is not unreasonable with good maintenance, and several have hit 350,000.we had one turn 200,000 as he rode into Hurley last year to the Rally! My '99 has over 65,000 and shows no signs of deterioration in the 43,000 miles I have put on it :perfect10:

Thank you for the heads up. I didnt think it was "that" high for a touring bike but figured i would ask as the guys at AVA seem to be the best source. Thanks again!

The Voyager is a bulletproof machine. Built by the biggest baddest company in Japan. Very low maintenance and great reliability. Put the right tires on it, Fill it with Shell Rotella T Diesel oil 15/40 and you are good to go. Lots of videos on YouTube to help you with maintenance. Enjoy.
