I put one on my 1200 and used 5 pin like on a Goldwing and it works with the controls of the bike. You have to take off the fairing and look on the radio it has a plug to use and then route your cord to where you want it. I used zip ties to run my cord up to the handlebars. Good luck ,it is not that hard.

They came from the factory with built in intercom systems. You will need a "Y" cord which is a 5 pin connector, it plugs into the radio behind the headlight (the pig tail is marked intercom). Simply plug it in and run it back to the bike so you and the rear passenger have access to the ends. The Y cord will have one male end (connect behind radio) and two female ends (for riders to plug into). Then you will also need to get 5 pin headsets/intercoms for your helmets. The controls are built into the factory radio (button says HS for head-set). if it's accidentally pushed the radio will not play thru the speakers as the audio is redirected thru the Y cord.

Hi,
1st forum post, 2nd Voyager.
Just wired my intercom, found the cable on Ebay, installation took about 30 minutes while taking my time.
It really is plug and play.

+1 on the IMC sets, that's the system we got several years ago and have actually installed in a set of helmets, used for a few years ...... removed them and reinstalled them into a new set of helmets and they're still working absolutely fine!
 Plus I felt as though they were reasonably priced!

Thank you all for the info, I'm still not sure how to control the system. Is there a "push-to-talk" button or is it strictly "vox"??

odgreen, No push to talk button, just speak!
On the radio there are two buttons which have inner and outer controls (see image below). One will adjust intercom volume specifically and the other will control at what level you want the intercom to cut out all radio and give you just intercom, they are marked/labeled. You can set it so you hear both (passenger and radio) or have it cut out radio so you hear nothing but the other headset. Once you have these set to where you want, you should be good to go. You can play the radio through the headset or through the speakers and keep the headsets for just intercom communications!

Hope this helps! If not let us know and if no one chimes in with clearer instructions I'll get mine out of the shed and give myself a refresher so I can speak absolute :-D and not from last years memories! :!!

Also if you go to the AVA Home page, select Tech Center, then select Voyager XII. Once the page opens, there is a downloadable Audio Manual available which will cover any questions one may have.
