Hi All,
I know the suspension issue has been beat to death and Progressive seems to be the favored replacement. I have the fork springs already and am looking at rear shocks. I have the 412s on my other bike, a 1500 Vulcan, and they are good but I can't help wondering if anyone has tried any of the other models, Specifically, I am interested in the 430, 440, 444, etc. Not so much the 416 or other air shocks, I don't want any more air issues.
Anyone have any experience with these? They are pricey and I am not even sure there is a model speced for the XII but they do make 13" versions that could probably be modded.

Re: Progessive shocks
I have the 416s and do not like how stiff/harsh they are. They are called an air shock, but the springs in them are so stiff I only use 12lbs of air pressure if we pack for a trip.If we are not loaded with luggage,I use no air and they are still too harsh for Peg and I.I would much rather have rebuilt factory shocks as the 416 spring shocks[as they should be called, although they can have air assist].

I believe you want the 412's. My wife and I together weigh over 400 lbs and we cannot bottom out these shocks. Riding single they work just right.

The company that owns Progressive suspension is in having big money issues. You might want to buy them while you still can

OK, 412s good, 416s not so much. That's kind of where i started from. Nada on the other models?
Also, Progressive having money issues. Unfortunate as I won't have the money until spring. I hope they can survive that long.

Re: Progessive shocks
Side note, sorry to hear that Progressive is having money issues (AKA lack of sales due to poor economy). Things have changed here in NM. After 20 years, the Ruidoso NM rallies, Aspen Ca$h in Spring and Golden Aspen in Fall ended in 2017. The coordinators have retired and there is no other to pick up the slack.

Been seen less motorcyclists on the road than in other years, which is unusual for New Mexico. Because of the poor economy, it seems fewer are doing recreational motorcycle riding.
